| Frederick Kleppsattel was born as Frederick Oxenfeld in Hanover, Germany on October 13, 1853. He came to the United States in 1873 and lived for several years in New York with an aunt whose last name, Kleppsattel, he had taken. He was self-employed as a tailor, a trade he learned as an apprentice. He lived in St. Louis, DeSoto, Fredericktown, Desloge and Farmington, Missouri. He was Mayor of Fredericktown for two terms and was Justice of the Peace in Desloge for several years. On November 25, 1875, he married Marietta Maurer in Farmington, Missouri. Marietta Maurer was born in Ohio on May 14, 1856. Her parents came from Orro, Switzerland. He became a United States citizen as Frederick Kleppsattel on October 18, 1882. Frederick Kleppsattel died in Desloge, Missouri at the age of 82 on June 9, 1935. Marietta Kleppsattel died at the age of 84 on January 8, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. |
