Art News

Well, I finished Lil Ella with Baby.  I want to wait until her owners get to see her in person before I post the picture here, though.

I had a heck of a time getting any pictures though.  Everything that can go wrong seems to go wrong for me lately!  My digital camera refuses to work with batteries.  Suddenly, it decided it would only work if plugged in to an outlet.  So, that limits the range of where I can take pictures.  I can work around that issue, I think to myself.  I find a nice place with some flowers outside.  The flash won't stop flashing.  But, I find out if I hold my hand over the lens until just before I push the button, I have a 2 second window.  So, with the flash, flashing I need to line up the shot and then I take my hand away and press the button!  1 out of 3 shots came out with normal coloring, the other 2 are just white on white.  BUT I worked around it.  So, that's ok!  I'm feeling pretty proud of managing to plow through.  So, I'm holding my hand over the lens, lining up the shot, quickly taking my hand away and pressing the button!  Wait.  The wind blew over Lil Muggie.  That's ok!  I set him up, go with the process and . . . . my curious orange cat, Chester, flies through the air and captures his prey!  It's Lil Muggie.  I rescue the lil fella and shoo away Chester.  He has a look of disdain for me as he goes behind my little studio and plans on laying down on and crushing my blue flower backdrop.  I shoo him frantically and louder.  Those flowers are so totally delicate and I only have the range of the plug to work with here.  Disaster is narrowly avoided by my quick action.  It may take a while for Chester to get over my lack of concern for his dignity and gifts.  But, that's ok!  I got this all figured out.  So, I'm laying on my belly again, eye to eye with my subjects, covering the lens with my hand, quickly removing my hand from the shot, pressing the button, avoiding giant orange cats in the pictures, and my neck cramps up from this weird angle.  So, I decide I have enough pictures.  Amazingly, I came in and plugged into the computer and I think I have some not so bad shots.  So, I guess it was all worth it, after all!

I have several wooliture orders lining up.  So, it's time to get to work on the next.  I'll be working on a white tiger cub.

I found an amazing fiber person!  KarenintheWoods over at Etsy.  I found this beautiful caramel fiber rovings in her etsy shop.  So I wrote to her and she ACTUALLY was IN the woods!  Camping!   And she wrote me back from her motorhome.  She wasn't even back from her camping trip before she had the order all set for me.  She sent it to me already this morning and it's on its way AND she added gifts!  What a GREAT shop!  I'll definately be going there again.  KarenintheWoods.etsy.com.  If you need beautiful fiber rovings, socks, rugs, etc.  Check it out!  She has GIANT amounts of fiber, but she will break it down into smaller amounts if you need.  It's very reasonably priced per ounce.

Sooo.  Now I'm not sure what picture to include for today.  I guess I'll put a picture of Lil Gunner.  Really neat horse.  He has a very calming presence and lots of gorgeous coloring.  I traded his Lil Ditto for little Hans Franz a teddy bear made by Patti Franz!!!  I'm so excited to see him.  He's on his way to me right now.  Patti makes teddy bears that are SO cool  among lots of other art!  I had a hard time picking between Hans and the two hippie bears.  You can check out Patti's gorgeous artwork of all kinds at www.earthgirls.com  She also does alot of work at We Can Ride.  You can check that out at www.wecanride.org  You can also see Gunner aka "G" there too.  I made Lil Daley a while ago as a gift from Patti's daughter to Patti for Mother's Day.  Daley is an amazing horse!!  He smiles and waves and does tons of tricks!  He also works for We Can Ride.  Anyway, I really enjoyed making this HUGE happy spirited horse's wooliture lil ditto and sent him off.  THEN I found out what an accomplished artist Patti is!  I still would have done my best work possible, but the usual nervous time between sending him and waiting to see if they are happily received would have been alot more nervous for me!  But, Patti is SO friendly, I can't believe I ever stressed about it. :D  For me, the payoff on all the work is how the new owner feels about their wooliture.

Wouldn't it be GREAT if the whole world operated on everyone doing their best at whatever they love and passing that on?  I think money just clogs up people doing what they really love and giving to the world what they really love and getting the payoff from the joy they bring to other people.   Money shmoney.  Bartering makes more sense to me.  I mean value varies so greatly.  How can you put a monetary value on joy?  I remember being very young, maybe 5 or so, and asking about money.  I was told precious metals were the base for money and money was worth something because gold, silver, etc were so rare.   Then I said, "Why don't people make river rocks money?  There's lots of those!"  I guess I was thinking then everyone would have lots of money.  It certainly can shape a life here on earth; how much money one has or hasn't.  How many joys are not happening right now because the person with the gifts is just struggling along trying to get food for the day, or whatever?  This world is rich with people with gifts to give and yet shaped by something that is intended to be rare and hard to get.  Isn't that stupid?  Yah.  I know.  That kind of thinking doesn't do any good in this world right now.  But, the gifts people are given are rare too and should be valued as highly, in my opinion.

My sister is making a documentary film on Dreamers and the Dreams they can not stop following, even through hardships.  She also made a beautiful short film called "Free Hugs in Hollywood" that won a Veddy Award from Yahoo last year.  You can check out her films and more at www.SkyLifeProductions.com or www.LisaMurray.com  Right now I think she has been invited to write a blog about the LA Film Festival.  She's always been hilarious and would always point out scenes in our lives as though they were scenes in a movie and crack us all up.  She's always been a director finding her way to being a director.

Aaaaannnyyway.  That's all for today.  I hope you have a great day today and are blessed enough to be able to use your God given gifts in this world to bring joy to others and yourself.

Until next time . . .
