A note on your citizenship and effort grades in Dr. Heydler's class
I want to take a moment to lay out the guidelines by which I will assign your citizenship and effort grades.  These guidelines apply only to Dr. Heydler.  Other teachers have their own methods for evaluating these grades.

Before I start, and "S" means that you are doing everything correctly and that you're just fine in class.  "O"s mean that you are going well above and beyond the expectations.  If you do have any concerns about your grade in these categories please feel free to talk to me at any time!

In order to recieve an "O" in citizenship you need to:
- Help others, both during in-class tutoring sessions and online.
- Have a good attitude
     - This means teamwork and team spirit
-No begging for Extra Credit or arguing over grades.
           - If I make a mistake,
please bring it to my attention!  I'm not perfect and I want to make sure you earn the points you deserve.
           - If you want to clarify why I graded something they was I did, also please ask!
           - But please do not argue excessively over points.
     - Be positive in class!
- Show quality participation.
     - Raising points that are
relevent to the class.
           - This means not trying to get the class off topic.
           - This also means no clowning around and being disruptive

In order to earn an "O" in effort you need to:
- Ask good, thoughtful quality questions
     - In class and online.
     - No question is "stupid", if you need to know you need to ask!
     - Make an effort to think deeply and ask questions that reflect that reflection.
N.B. There is a procedure in this class- you need to "Ask 3 then me".  This means, go first to your classmates.  If after talking to three fo them you still need my help, then please come and we'll work through it together.
- Attending tutorins sessions, either to get help or give it.
- Show an overall improvement in your study skills and grades.
- Working in the classroom to develop your critical thinking skills.
     - There are puzzles in class (see me), you are welcome to come in during your break, lunck or after school to work on them.  They'll help you learn to think creatively.
-Show initiative, go above and beyond.

NOTE:  CHEATING AUTOMATICALLY GETS YOU AN "N" IN BOTH CATEGORIES.
