Angels In Waiting

It happened again. Two angst fics written in one day. Again....I cried while writing this one. The song Angels In Waiting is a very very powerful song and it means a lot to me. My little brother nearly died when he was nine years old during a very dangerous surgery to remove a tumor and even though I fight with him I thank the lord for every breath he takes. I don't know what I would have done if Brooks had died.

I don't own DBZ and I'm so glad I don't own Angels In Waiting. The song was written and sung by a talented woman named Tammy Cochran. She wrote it in remembrance of her two brothers who died of cystic fibrosis. I feel the need to honor their memories since I am borrowing their song for my fic.

This is a yaoi/yuri fic. There is something very wrong with the demi Saiyans and everyone who loves them must accept that their time on Earth is limited.

WE CAMPED OUT ON THE LIVIN' ROOM FLOOR

Gohan's eyes softened as he stared at the two figures he'd been left in charge of. It appeared that the two playful demi Saiyans had finally gone to sleep after a long night. The remains of an attempt to make smores was sitting on the coffee table. Feathers from a pillow that had died a noble death during their earlier fight were strewn about the room. Finger painted pictures awaited the return of ChiChi and Bulma.

"It's hard to believe what trouble makers you two are when you're awake," he whispered with a shake of his head as he gave one more quick glance at the boys before padding off towards his own room.

IN OUR OLD SLEEPIN' BAGS BY A MAKE BELIEVE FIRE

Trunks and Goten snuggled together in a sleeping bag and feigned sleep in the hopes of Gohan leaving them alone so that they could resume their camp out in the living room. The paler haired youth listened to the sound of fading foot falls before nudging his darker haired counterpart. The boys grinned at each other before scampering out of the blanket.

IN A TENT MADE OF COVERS WE'D TALK FOR HOURS

Goten and Trunks sat facing each other staring warily at the knife Trunks had sat between them. The dim glow of a night light illuminated the different colors of the sheets and blankets that made up their patchwork tent.

"Tru-chan, are you sure kaasan's not gonna be mad at me for this," Goten said as he turned his eyes to meet Trunks' baby blue ones.

"Don't you trust me," Trunks almost sniffed, hurt at the fact his truest and best friend thought he was going to get him into trouble.

MY TWO BROTHERS AND ME

"Of course I do Tru-chan," Goten gulped as he picked up the sharp blade and made a gash acrossed his palm. He tossed the now stained blade to Trunks who looked at it hesitantly.

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, Go-chan," he whispered as he stared at the knife. Goten looked at him with large eyes and then stared at his bleeding palm.

"I hope you two know I can hear you," a voice said that made both chibi Saiyans jump through their covers, hitting the ceiling and then landing on their tent. This effectively destroyed the entire thing, chairs and all. They looked up sheepishly at Gohan and at the red hand print Goten had left on the ceiling.

"Blood brother's huh," Gohan grinned as he stared at the red liquid pooling from Goten's hand, "I remember doing that when I was your age."

"But Gohan, ah that hurts," Trunks winced as he slashed his own palm and pressed it to Goten's, "The only friend you had at our age was Piccolo-san."

Gohan grinned and nodded. He watched in satisfaction as Trunks and Goten's eyes went as wide as saucers as they traced the scar that ran along Gohan's left palm. Despite the fact it was more than a decade old a deep purple tinged around it, signaling the alien blood that gathered there.

Trunks stared in awe at the mark and then looked at Goten. Goten traced the raised pink flesh and then looked at his own already healing gash. The idea hit the youngsters at the same time and they grinned at each other and then at Gohan.

"Go-kun," Goten put on his best persuasive voice as he wrapped his arms around his brother's leg, "Will you please become our blood brother?"

"Yeah, Gohan, you're as special to me as Goten is. I want you as a blood brother," Trunks grinned as he wrapped himself around the other leg.

"Do you really mean it," Gohan grinned as he ruffled their hair.

"Hai," both boys cried happily as they grabbed the knife and slashed Gohan's right hand before he could change his mind. Gohan smiled as two small hands pressed down on his large one.

"Now I have two brothers," Trunks grinned.

KEEPIN? THE FAITH

"Now we're bound by the bonds of our blood and whatever we face we face together," Gohan grinned as picked up the boys and sat them back into their sleeping bag, "Now go to sleep"

"Gohan, do you mean forever," Trunks questioned sleepily as he began to drift off.

"This means that we have faith in the person we became a blood brother with. Through good times and the bad you two have to help each other. I may be your blood brother too but you guys share a special bond since you were each others first."

RACING WITH DESTINY

"I promise I'll always stay by your side, Tru-chan," Goten yawned and wrapped a lazy arm over Trunks. Gohan waited till he was absolutely positive they were asleep before heading back to his room. A dark figure standing in his doorway grabbed him and pulled him into a warm embrace.

"I promise I'll always stay by your side, Gohan"

"I know, Piccolo, I know"

Okay, so how'd you like the first chapter? *giggles* this was just a little teaser to show just how deep the bonds run between the demi Saiyans and also to show how deeply Gohan and Piccolo feel about each other. Speaking of which....did anyone catch the fact Gohan was being a bad babysitter by letting his boyfriend come over when he was watching the kids *grins*
