Boulton and Watt form Partnership.
IN 1773, Matthew Boulton of Birmingham joined in partership with James Watt forming the firm of "Boulton and Watt" to work toward inproving the steam engine invented by Watt. This partership lasted more then 25 years and continued into the next generation when the sons, James Watt, Jr., Matthew Robinson Boulton and Gregory Watt, took control of the firm in 1800.
