The surname Collins has been used throughout as this is shown on all records and other information held. It is believed, however, that Collins is NOT his birth name. Family lore has it that William Frederick was born in Wales (there is census informatin to support this) and it was probably his mother's surname that was used on his birth certificate. His army records show the place of birth to be Blockley, Worcestershire - this is the birthplace of his father Fred.

William married Nellie Kathleen Povey, daughter of Frederick Povey and Rosina Drodge, on 31 Aug 1918 in Brockenhurst, Hampshire. (Nellie Kathleen Povey was born in 1893 in Brockenhurst, Hampshire, died on 19 Aug 1975 in Christchurch, New Zealand and was buried on 25 Aug 1975 in Cremated - Canterbury, New Zealand.)
