Many Hendon people were grieved last week to hear of the death of Mrs. Lottie Mabel Harper, wife of Herbert James Harper, of 22, Victoria Road, Hendon. Mrs. Harper, who was 60 years of age, passed away in Edgware General Hospital on Tuesday last week.

Born in Brockenhurst, Hants, Mrs Harper met her husband there and came to be married by the late Rev. W. Rufus at Finchley-lane Baptist Church in 1913. Their first home was Second-avanue and they later moved to their present address in Victoria-road. Although she did not take a very active part in the social life of the district, Mrs. Harper was a keen supporter of the work of the Finchley-lane church. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother and never-failing cheerfulness.

Mr. Harper, born in Hendon, has long been associated wkth the local building industry and is a clerk of works with Hendon Borough Council. Deep sympathy has been expressed with him and his family of five sons an one daughter in their bereavement.

The funeral at Hendon Park Crematorium on Monday was preceded by a family service at home, conducted by the Rev. D. R. Oliver. Many friends were at the crematorium. The family mourners were Mr. H. J. Harper (husband) Mr, & Mrs. J. F. Harper, Mr. & Mrs S. H. Harper, Mr. & Mrs. J. Harper, Mr. & Mrs. P. S. Harper, Mr. & Mrs. A. P. Harper (sons and daughters-in-law), Mr & Mrs C. H. Jackman (son-in-law and daughter), Mts T. Street (sister), Mr W. Povey, Mr G. Povey (brothers) Mr. & Mrs. F. W. Povey, Mrs. E. Harper (sister-in-law), Miss L. Harper, Mrs. W. Enever and Mr. & Mrs. V. Parker.

Lottie married Herbert James Harper, son of James Harper and Charlotte Clara Garrett, in 1913 in Hendon, Middlesex. (Herbert James Harper was born circa 1890 in Hendon, Middlesex, died on 27 Aug 1971 in Christchurch, New Zealand and was buried on 30 Aug 1971 in Cremated - Canterbury, New Zealand.)
