| The majestic coral reefs are some of the most spectacular and mesmorizing organic creatures in the world. They span thousands of miles long with an amazingly high species diversity; over 100,000! They include such varieties as coral domes, branches, fans, antlers and organ pipes all coming in a huge array of colors. Housed in and around the coral are millions of fish and other animals all dependent on eachother for survival. Coral reefs are the largest structures built by an animal on the planet, including humans! It weighs billions of tons! Just think that the rainforests of the the sea are built by organisms no bigger than a pencil eraser. Unfortunately, coral reefs are endangered because of pollution, human explotation, natural disasters and coral bleaching.
