SUMMARY: What’s Angel to do when a simple game of Hide and Seek causes Giles niece 
to go missing….Will he find her in time before Giles returns.

A/N: This fan fiction was just a fun idea I had while trying to come up with 
something to write. Feedback is Welcome and nice but not necessary. 



“8…9…10…ready or not here I come” Angel said walking out from the Sunnydale High 
Library book stacks. “Bess” he said looking under the table and behind the library 
counter. 

Elizabeth “Bess” Giles was the eleven year old niece of Rupert Giles; her father 
was Rupert’s brother. Her parents were paleontologists who disappeared while on a 
trip to South America four years ago. 

Elizabeth’s fathers will had stated that if anything happened to him and his wife 
that Rupert was to be appointed her guardian. Elizabeth was about 5’0, with brown 
hair and blue/green eyes 

When couldn’t find her in the library he walked out into the hall and used his 
vampire hearing to listen to sounds of giggling or footsteps but didn’t hear a 
thing. 

“Bess” Angel called out “Where are you?” 

Sunnydale High was a rather large school and he started to wonder if maybe she 
wondered too far and had gotten lost somewhere in the building or worse kidnapped. 

He looked at the clock outside the library and saw it was eight p.m. Giles said 
that they would be back about eleven pm so he had three hours to try and find her. 

He spent the next hour and half searching the first and second floor, looking in 
janitor’s closets, classrooms that had been left unlocked and even bathrooms. He 
wasn’t sure if he should be worried about her or angry with her. 

“Bess come on this is not funny anymore! Come out!” Angel called out “I’ll take 
you out for Ice Cream if you come out!” 




After searching the library again he headed outside. He had about an hour left. If 
Giles found out he lost her he’d probably stake him as he looked around he heard 
two familiar voices, near the quad he saw Bess talking to non other then Spike 

“Bessie, Get away from him!” Angel yelled running over to the two. 

“Go away Spike” Angel said standing in between the two. “Don’t ever come near her 
again! You hear me!” he warned. 

“Look Angelus I was just walking around minding my own business when I saw her 
walking around alone” Spike said. 

“Why don’t you go find a town to annoy Spike?” Angel suggested. 

“Angel, don’t talk to my new friend that way” Bessie said tugging on Angel’s coat. 

“He’s not your friend” Angel said in a sharp tone. 

“Fine, you know life was fun when you were evil” Spike said and turned and walked 
away. 

“Let’s get back to the library before Giles returns” Angel said taking Bess’s hand. 

Before Giles and the others returned Bess asked Angel what Spike meant by him 
being evil, she new Angel was a vampire but didn’t know the full story. So he just 
told her in a non scary sort off away about how he got his soul. 

“Uncle Giles!” Bess said running over to her uncle. 

“How was she?” Giles asked. 

“Great” Angel said “No trouble at all” 

“Good, I guess I better get you home huh” Giles said to Bess. 

“Yes…goodnight Angel” Bess said smiling and yawing. 

“Goodnight” Angel said smiling as he headed out the door, 

Two minutes later. 

“ANGEL!” Giles yelled. 

“I really need to teach her how sometimes it’s best not to mention certain events 
that could get a certain vampire staked” Angel thought as he darted out of the 
High School.
