Wise Insanity

What wise insanity is this?
That I must take a hand I do not wish,
That I must love a soul untouched to my own,
To kiss the hard lips of a cold fire.

A choice not my own,
Made for me by a trusting familiarity,
To only bind two families in wealth,
A sick love forced into a closed heart.

A dark light I am not a custom to,
Shines in on me with a powerful force,
Taking me with no pervious permission,
In an attempt to lock our two souls.

In an age so lost in ignorance,
When love is no issue to bind in marriage,
There is not a thing I can hold dear,
For forces beyond me have spoken.
