FOLKINGHAM
Folkingham is a village in South West Lincolnshire some 10 miles from Grantham and 7 miles from Sleaford -
OS ref: TF0733.
In the main street opposite the market square is the old Queen Anne Coaching Inn now called 'The Greyhound Inn', but in times gone by of major importance as a Coaching Inn. �It is now an antiques, craft centre and restaurant.
To the left, is St Andrew's Church - a fine church that was originally built in the late 13th Century and well restored with it's 15th Cenury Tower dominating the skyline. �The churchyard is shaded by old horse chestnut trees, many hundreds of years old.
Also in Folkingham was a Norman Castle,�rebuilt in the 14th Century but destroyed in the Civil War.
In 1825 'The House of Correction' was built on the former Castle Hill site - the old moat still remains around it.
