Psych 101: Psychic Ethics for Beginners

Psych 101: A Beginner's Guide To Interpersonal Psychic Etiquette and Ethics

Why would you care? Why does it matter?

Just because it isn't very dramatic doesn't mean it can't do some damage, especially if it is ignored. Like a small swelling in your gum or a small infection of a toenail, if the infection spreads or is not checked, it can cause damage or scarring to surrounding tissues. Talk about a person's identity or psychic stability, and the damage can carry into a LOT of relationships. If someone is scared of their psychic ability or has been hurt, they may avoid people altogether. Folks with even minimal psychic ability (receptive type) often NEED time alone. The more psychic, the farther away they have to get to feel alone. Teach them what is going on, how to protect themselves, and they may do better in their jobs, and cope in a more rewarding way in other relationships.

Next level. Alright, aside from your own general sense of comfort in life, more rewarding relationships, stability under stress, why else would you care if you are psychic? Assuming that you are a decent sort of person, you might care because you can hurt other people, without meaning to and without knowing you are doing it. Worse, perhaps you suspect you are hurting someone and don't want to admit it, even to yourself. If you learn more about how this all works and how to help yourself, that vague nagging sense of guilt or complicity can be dealt with head-on. If you are making a sincere and genuine effort to do your best NOT to hurt others, it becomes a bit easier to cope with those times you fail at it.
