This story will be about Rose after Jack, the night she's on the ship Carpathia, and when she reaches New York that night and starting a new life without Jack, starting on her own, some troubles along the way, but then a new adventure... a new world...

Chapter 1: "Dawson, Rose Dawson..."

"Can I take your name please Love?" The Officer asks Rose, she looks at him, thinking of her new life with Jack still even though he's not there, but he is in spirit with her. "Dawson, Rose Dawson." "Thank you." He kindly walks away, and Rose looks up at the Statue, and thinks, "I can be a new butterfly in this new life, and fly freely the way I wanted to. Just like how I told Jack, and I will fly freely and live for him, he died for me." Rose then feels something in her coat pocket, she pulls it out and it's the heart of the ocean and she looks at it wondering, "What, why is this in here?" "Cal?" She thinks to herself, "He must've stolen it and taken it so he could sell it for himself." Then she feels something else in there, she pulls it out, money! "Oh wow, there must be a lot in here." "Cal stole the money too out of the safe." She hurries and puts everything back in her pocket before anyone noticed.

The Ship finally docks, and it's still raining, and everyone is anxious to get off the ship. They finally start letting the people off the ship, and Rose is walking and still thinking of Jack, and she reaches the streets of New York, and looks around and thinks "Jack, if only you were here with me. I love you." She looks back one more time at the Carpathia and at where she met her true love, and says outloud, "I'll never let go, I promise..." She then continues to walk forward, and sees a Cafe and goes inside, nice and warm in here she thinks, Rose sits down at the table quietly by the window, looking out at the passengers still going and walking down the street,
The Waitress comes over to Rose's table and puts down a menu in front of Rose but Rose is still silent looking out, the Waitress knows about what happened of the Titanic and it's survivors coming off the Carpathia, the Waitress breathes and says, "Hello Miss, what can I get you to drink?" Rose looks over at the waitress, and she says, "I'll have sweet tea please." "Okay, I'll be right back with your sweet tea honey, and here's a menu for you." She shows her the menu, and Rose looks down at it, and as the waitress walks away, Rose says, "Thank you." The Waitress looks back and smiles and says "You're Welcome Miss." "I'm Rose, Dawson, Rose Dawson." Rose says still shocked from losing Jack and what has happened. "I'm Milly, Milly Canner. It's nice to meet you Miss Rose." Rose smiles and Milly does too again.

"Here's your sweet tea Miss Rose, have you decided what to order?" "Yes, I'll have sphagetti and meat balls and a salad and a cup of fruit, can I also get a chocolate cake for desert and a side glass of ice water?" "Yes ma'am, it'll be right out in a bit Miss." Milly says taking her menu. Alittle bit later and Milly brings Rose's food out, and says "Here we go Miss Rose, sphagetti and meat balls, and a salad and a cup of fruit and a chocolate cake for desert, and a side of glass of ice water for you sweety." "Thank you." Rose looks at how yummy the food looks and looks up at Milly, "Thank you Miss Milly." "You're welcome Miss Rose." "Milly, would you mind joining me and sitting down with me? I would love the company." "Sure I could take a break been going all day." Milly says. After a long silence, Rose says, "I came off the Carpathia, I was on the Titanic." Milly not sure what to say cos she doesn't want to hurt Rose's feelings, "I heard about the Titanic and the survivors coming off the Carpthia tonight, it's all over the news already, and New York has been preparing for ya'll to come in but they weren't expecting the Titanic to..." Milly stops, and almost cries, Rose puts her hand on Milly's arm, "Don't cry Milly." "I can't help myself, it's just so sad, all those people that lost their lives and it's just not fair." "It's not fair." Rose says looking down then now her wanting to cry because of losing Jack. "Do you have any family Rose?" Milly bravely asks. "Family..." Rose looks at her, "I ran away, I met a new love on Titanic, his name was Jack, and he rescued me from when I wanted to end my life because of my family , and my fiance that my mother had forced me to marry, only to cover the family debt that my father left us, well she always used us, and used me in that debt. Then Jack came and showed me how to live, instead of wanting to die like I thought I wanted to, I was just trapped, I felt like I was standing at a Great Precipice with no one to pull me back, no one who cared or even noticed."

Milly says to Rose, "You're so lucky to have met Jack, Rose, he gave his life for you because he loved you so much and he'll always be with you my darling." "Rose, I feel a sister connection between us, and I was wondering would you like to stay with me? And I would love you to work with me here, that way you can get on your feet again, and get mone coming in to help you." Rose shocked that this is happening so quick, "Yes." Rose says immediately not even thinking of it. "Thank you thank you so much Milly." "You're welcome Miss Rose." "Call me Rose." "You already called me Milly, okay Rose." Milly says laughing and smiling and Rose actually laughs and smiles. "I could start helping you right now with restuarant? How late do you stay open?" "Til 11pm, it's after 10 right now almost time. But don't worry you and I can have as much time in here as we need, I don't think anyone else will be coming in this late tonight." She says. "I can start helping you right now Milly." "No no sweety, finish your food first."

Milly looked to be about in her 20s, and had her own apartment, on the side of town it didn't look fancy and neither did the side of town, but there were trees and flowers around to make it sparkle, Rose loved seeing it as they walked. Milly didn't have a car, so she walked everywhere, she wasn't far from everything in town so it was okay. "It's so beautiful here." Rose says, "It is, it's not much but it's beautiful here and the neighborhood is with good people and safe. That's why I'm always walking and I never have been able to afford a car." Rose looks around Milly's apartment, it's so beautiful as well, looks like a little cabin apartment, and she has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, and a beautiful little kitchen, and living room, her living room actually almost has the same design as the suite in Rose's room on Titanic. Rose goes into the living room amazed at how it looks almost like her suite on Titanic, Milly walks in behind her, "Is everything alright?" "Yes, it's just your living room looks almost like my suite on Titanic." "I'm sorry if it..." Milly tries to say, "No no, it's beautiful, I love it and it reminds me of the good memories." Rose closes her eyes for a split second and remembers Jack drawing her that night, and there's a couch there almost like Rose's just different pattern and colours. And only there's no paintings in the room just cute stuff hanging on her walls.

"Here's your room Rose." Milly says opening the door for Rose, it's a cute vintage room, and with a cute white quilt on the bed, and the maroon colour furniture like on Titanic almost. There's also a vanity in the room as well like Rose's was in her room. "It's so beautiful in here Milly." "Thank you." Milly says, "You sure know how to decorate your house." Rose says smiling looking at her, "That's one of my favorite things to do is decorate, and I love art, but I've never bought a painting they were always so much money and I couldn't afford them." "You love art?" Rose asks, Milly shakes her head yes, "I do too, I had paintings on the Titanic in my room, my ex fiance always thought they were nothing or meant nothing to him. The thing between Cal's mind and mine is that I have some and they're facinating." "Cal, was that his name?" Milly asks, "Yes it was. He treated me so badly, he abused me. He always acted so fancy and proper towards my mother though and when my mother was around and she adored him, but did not like Jack at all, she was rude to him and she acted like he didn't exist." "I'm so sorry you went through all that Rose, I had a bad ex husband as well." "You were married?" "Yeah, it didn't last long. I divorced him, he didn't want the divorce but I couldn't take it no more, he's re-married already but he still once in awhile tries to get to me. Even at work." "What?" Rose says shocked. "Yeah. It's hard to believe but it's true.  "I'm hoping one day I'll meet someone like you met Jack, I've always been hoping for that day but until then I've stayed to myself and away from everyone, and my family was a lot like yours, I ran away from them, I ran away by myself and came to this town, and that's where I met my ex husband, he took me in, thought he would be good to me, and thought he would love me but it was the other way around, my Uncle luckily took me in, and he and his wife have their house in the rich part of town, but they're no where near like my family was, and my Uncle actually ran away from my mother, his sister, and that side of the family, to start a new life by himself and then he met his beautiful wife in the new town. My Uncle is the owner of the restuarant I work at, and I know he'll be thrilled to meet you Rose, and have you working with us. You'll be apart of the family." "I feel like I already am." Rose says smiling. "I'll be right back." Milly goes to her room and gets clean clothes for Rose, and a night gown, "Here you go honey." "Tomorrow we'll go shopping for you some clothes and take your dress and coat to the dry cleaners and get then cleaned for you." "Are you sure Milly?" "Yes, no questions about it." Milly says smiling. "Milly, can I show you something?" "Of course." Rose pulls out the necklace and the money, "Oh wow. Is that a diamond?" Milly asks shocked. "Yes it is, it's what my fiance gave me but I found it in the coat pocket which he gave me this coat, when I was with Jack and Jack tried to get me in the life boat but I jumped back on the Titanic and Cal was there as well." "I figured Cal was trying to steal the necklace to sell it for himself, he was that selfish." "Then I found money in the pocket." "I was going to pay for dinner tonight, but you offered to pay for me, thank you Milly again." "Rose it's okay hon, don't worry about it. I want to help you as much as I can, I've been where you've been sweety and it's not easy."

Chapter 2: "Meeting her Uncle and Aunt at the restuarant the next day."

Knock knock, Milly knocks on Rose's door the next morning, "Yes ma'am?" Milly giggles as shes opens the door, "Rose, there's no need to call me ma'am." "I know I'm just teasing." Rose says smiling, they're both already acting pretty much like sisters. "Here's one of my dresses I thought you might like and can take a shower and wear and you can keep it Rose." "Keep it? Are you sure?" "Yes, I have a ton of them and been meaning to clean my closet out but never get to it with work and everything." "Aww thank you Milly, it's lovely. It almost looks like the gown I wore that morning I had lunch with, with my ex as much I as I hate to mention him. But the dress I had on was lovely. Only this one is pure white all the way with pink around it instead of the green." "Rose, I'm so sorry again you had to go through what you went through and I'm so glad God has brought us together to cross paths and to share this new journey together as sisters. I feel like you are like a sister to me Rose, I don't even have a sister." "I feel like that too Milly. Just when all hope was lost God brought me you as my sister to lift me up again." Milly says, "Thank you." While smiling. "Okay, I'll go get dressed too, and then we'll head to the cafe for breakfast, I don't work there til tonight, the morning is too early for me, I told my Uncle I want to work the night shift. It's more fun and quiet once it gets late. It gives me peace to my mind to calm down." "That's a good way to look at it." Rose says. "Okay, we'll get ready and we'll get going."

"Hey Uncle Charles." Milly says as her and Rose enter the door, and her Uncle says "Hey Milly." as he's looking up and then he sees the beautiful red head behind her, "Who is this?" "Uncle Chares this is Rose Dawson. She was a Titanic survivor." Milly says introducing Rose as they walk up to him and he's behind the counter working and writing in his book. "Miss Rose, I'm so sorry." "It's alright Mr..." "Mr. Canner", "Mr. Canner." Rose says after him smiling and shaking his hand. "Uncle Charles, I told her you're the owner of the restaraunt and told her you'd be excited to meet her and have her working with us." "Oh yes indeed." He says smiling big. "Rose, would you like a job here?" "Yes. I would." Rose says smiling, "Okay, you can start with Milly tonight. If that's okay with you." "Yes, it is, I'll do the night shift with Milly." "Awesome. Thank you Rose for being apart of our family and our team here." "We're all like family here even if the employees aren't related." "Uncle Charles when do you get off?" "I get a break for lunch later. Why?" "I thought we could take Rose to your house and let her meet the rest of the family and see the house." "Okay." he says smiling. "But first we need to eat." Milly says, "I'm hungry." "You're always hungry Milly that's nothing new with my niece." Charles says to her. "Here's you both a cup of Coffee to start off with this morning." "After we eat breakfast, we're going to go clothes shopping, I'm buying Rose clothes." "That's nice of you Milly." Charles says, as they girls are sitting there at the bar with Charles the counter with them, he took a break from writing in his book to visit with the girls, "I'll have eggs, sausage, toast, and bacon with cheese on the eggs." Milly says, "I'll have the same plus a cinnamon roll make that two." "Wow, Rose you're hungry." "I am. I feel thirsty for some tea and water now." "I can get you that Rose, anything else you want also Milly?" "Same thing as Rose Uncle Charles." "Okay."

Rose and Milly are both laughing and talking having fun eating their breakfast and drinking their drinks, and Milly's Uncle is amazed at how much joy Milly is having seeing that she's been down because of her ex husband. She's had joy in between then but it's been hard for her. "Okay wow Rose, I wasn't expecting you to eat all that!" "I know and last night I didn't even eat this much." Rose says. "I don't know, maybe because I didn't eat anything at all that night the ship sank but I didn't even eat that much last night." Just then remembering when his wife was pregnant with their first girl and remembering the symtoms but he doesn't say anything to the girls. "Alright Uncle Charles, we're gonna go shopping and meet you back here at noon to go to your house." "Okay, you two have fun and be safe."

"Okay, we're back." Milly says helping Rose with her bags as she bought her like 7 dresses and shoes and purses and earrings, and a nice evening dress, "Wow, did you girls buy the shops out?" "She almost did." Rose says, Milly looks at Rose smiling, "I couldn't help it Rose, everything looked so beautiful that would look beautiful on you, and I couldn't help myself but buy them all for her." "Oh wow." Her Uncle says. "Uncle Charles it's time for your lunch break." "Yes it is. We'll have to go see what your Aunt cooked for lunch she said she'd cook today." "Okay." Milly says. "Here put these bags in the car in the back , back here, and when we leave I can take you girls home and help you before I go back to work, I told them it might be a bit longer since we've got Rose with us today." "Okay." Milly says as they load them up. "Well we're here, this is our home." "Wow, it's beautiful." Rose says, she's been living in fancy housing before with her mother and father but nothing ever this beautiful as she's seen it now, "Isn't it amazing here?" Milly asks Rose, "Yeah it is." Rose says. Rose is still looking amazed at the house and Milly is trying to get Rose's attention, "Rose, hey let's go in, I want you to see the inside." Rose awakens from looking at the house and then is like, "Oh okay." she says smiling as she gets out and Milly's Uncle helps both of them and John their son, who is Milly's age, 20, looks out the window, Rose sees and is suprised almost as to thinking it was Jack through the window but didn't want to flip out in front of everyone, as Milly's Uncle helps her out, John keeps looking at Rose, but then as they get closer he moves away and back to the living room couch, "Hey anyone home?" Charles yells, "Dad, I'm right here." John says, "Mom's in the kitchen." "Hey you!" Anita Canner his wife yells from the kitchen. "I'll be out soon." They all come in and Milly closes the door behind them and Uncle Charles introduces Rose to John, "Rose this is my son John." "Hi." Rose says shyly, shaking his hand, "Hi." He says the same thing shyly shaking her hand, he's handsome and tall, and dark blonde hair and soft brown eyes almost about like Jack was. "You two are too shy for me." Milly says, "If a cute guy such as my brother would come up to me and say hi, I'd be all over him." Rose looks at Milly shocked that she said that, compared to the way she was last night, "Milly, speaking of shy you never told me you had a brother." "I wanted him to be a suprise." Milly says smiling.  Rose then looks back at John, and smiles and he smiles at her. Uncle Charles and Milly both look at each other and smile. "Hey everyone! I was hearing everything back there. What's all this?" Anita is about to keep going when she sees Rose, and sees Rose looking still at John, "Nice to meet you Rose." "Oh, nice to meet  you to Mrs Canner." "Oh call me Anita, everyone here does even my own kids. We always yell but it's a joking yell and we love to have fun in this house and don't believe in a stuck up way." "Oh like my mother was , and.... Never mind no need for the rest now." Rose says. She shakes her head. Anita looks at Rose with a compassionate heart understanding her, "It's okay Rose." She puts her hand on her shoulder. "We understand, from where we left, we had to leave, it was a bad life, and bad way to live and we don't believe in that way, we believe in letting go and having fun around here, that's all that's welcome in this home. Any stuck up people, if they want to leave there's the door." "I like that." Rose says smiling. "Now here let's all come in the dining room and have lunch." "Aunt Anita let me help you." Milly says. Anita and Milly both bring out the lunch and set it on the table, and as Rose is sitting there she's quiet with Charles and John. "Why is everyone so quiet huh?" Anita says as they both finally sit down and they all say a prayer before they eat and then they begin to eat, and Uncle Charles mentions that Rose is a Titanic survivor, "I'm so sorry Miss Rose." Anita says to her, "It's okay." Rose says, just then Rose feels like throwing up, "Oh." "What's wrong sweety?" Anita sitting by Rose puts her hand on her back, "I'm sorry, where's the restroom?" "Down the hall to the right." "Thank you." Rose gets up hurridly, and throws up in the restroom.
