| Regency Day Dress: I was really happy with how beautifully this dress turned out. It is made of white eyelet with a border at the bottom (see picture above). The lining is muslin and the closure is hook and eye. The trim is satin brocade ribbon. Although the eyelet is a poly/cotton blend, I used period correct techniques in making the dress. The eyelet is reminiscent of the broidery anglaise (white on white embroidery) popular at the time, the seams are either French seams or hand finished whip stitch seams, the hook and eye closure was very common in the Regency Era, and the shape of the skirt is the straighter style popular around 1800. The wonderful thing about Regency Era clothing is that it can easily be worn today, bringing a little romance into your everyday life. |
