Nines (9) Nines are best explained as finally getting that which you want after a struggle and after a lot of hard work. They are the rewards of a hard fought battle and perhaps the outcome from an experience based in the Eights. A struggle that may have not necessarily been a long time period in coming to fruition but required a big commitment, if the question asked is a future based question, a lot of effort or even sacrifice may be required to reach the desired goal.
The positive reflection of the Nines is that anything that is worked for with effort and commitment and hard earned is more appreciated than something easily obtained. A Nine outcome is a better result with the suits of Spheres or Rods than with Swords or Chalices, because of the mental, spiritual and psychological nature of those suits. The ideas of inner success and long term benefits and enjoyment of those suits, suits the Nines very well. The Swords and Chalices are the physical rewards and are best reflected in the outcomes of the Tens.
Tens (10) Tens are the cards showing a quick and positive outcome, things will work out in a great way without much effort. They are the outcomes of creature comforts and a physical life of ease. However anything easily granted may easily be taken away or lost, as all physical things are transitory. Another negative aspect of a ten outcome is, if things are granted easily or too quickly not only may the person who is the recipient of the outcome in question not understand the value of the reward, but also they may be unaware of the repercussions and responsibility of that outcome. A Ten outcome is a better result with the Chalices and Swords than with Spheres or Rods, because of the immediate hands on physical reward of a tangible result of the outcome and the physical nature of these suits.
Princesses (Pages) The Princesses are all young women with a sense of nobility, purity and a goodness of being. They are shown in poses where they are contemplating their future without any falsehoods or delusions. They are tolerant and aware of their destinies, yet may not always agree with what is expected of them in the future. Aspects of those destinies may be based on peer pressure, parental pressures or social and personal expectations. The Princesses, all appear uncertain about this future but they do not question the fact that they do have a destiny. The Princesses best illustrate hope, compassion, and inner strengths to face the future. Regardless of which suit they appear in, they can be seen as the personification of the virtues of the suit of Spheres; wisdom, foresight, intuition and long tern responsibility with respect, within the context and the application to the actual suit of that card.
Princes (Knights) The Princes are young rebellious men, who are impatient and dynamic. They are best described as being impulsive and prone to act before thinking things out clearly. They can be seen as fools rushing in; in this deck the image of that impatience is best seen as boys with motorcycles for toys. While they are waiting to become Kings they are idly spending their time on pursuits that are less than substantial. The Princes regardless of their suit; can be seen as having all the elements of the suit of Sword; fiery direct, wanting to get it done now and wanting it all now.
Queens The Queens are content, wise, mature, compassionate and elegant. They are dressed in fine elegant eveningwear, which is reflective of women of their status and social class. They are enjoying the life they are living, and have surrounded themselves with beautiful things. The have committed themselves to a certain lifestyle and certain goals, and now there are enjoying the fruits of those choices. They are all full of life and energy, the exception to this is the Queen of Weapons who appears ready to take on all challenges, she is the personification of tough love and she is the strongest and most independently minded of women, She unlike the other Queens is under no illusion or fanciful idealism. The Queens are the living examples of the Chalice cards, maternal, aware and compassionate.
Kings The Kings are wise, they are bearing great responsibility and they are all in the position to rule with justice, power and wisdom and not necessarily the sword. They are all good kings and as such they are aware that living solely by the sword, one may die by the sword. Power today is not measured by ones ability for sword wielding but unfortunately for some, by material wealth and information. The Kings of all the suits, have elements of the Rods, they aware of how the world works, reaping the rewards of that work and are focused on a single idea and being committed to that idea.
THE SUITS
Each of the Suits are the opposite to another of the Suits in two ways, in one aspect it is the gender of the card and in other aspect it is reflecting that which is within in a mental and spiritual way and that which is outside of us, meaning the physical aspects of life. Chalices represent the Feminine physical energies , Weapons are Masculine physical energies. Spheres are Feminine mental energies. Rods are Masculine mental energies.
Chalices: The Chalices represent Water and the Physical Female attributes of human personality; the waters are the waters of life, the waters of the primordial sea and the waters of the womb. This suit reflects the female physical ability to bring forth life. Chalices also represent the ability to dream and to hope, as well as the power of love and compassion. Chalices are reflective of any power to have a dream, and make a dream come true and to have desires; it is creative energies and artistic endeavours. Any form of creation; from bearing new life to the inspiration behind the creation of music and art.
Weapons: Weapons are Fire and the Physical Male; the power of the warrior, the power of love and the power of life. Where Chalices are the power of creation within, Weapons are the power to project that creative energy outward, rather than creating within it is the physical manifestation of the dream in the outside world. Weapons are the masculine energies to make to take or manufacture outside of the body. Weapons are the cards of the industrious spirit and the will to get things done. Weapons are symbolic of creating and making something outside of the body, as well as sexuality, lust and ambition.
Spheres: Spheres are the suit of Air and the Mental or Spiritual Female, the powers of intuition, insight, spiritual awakening and faith. Women generally see the big picture, they see things in context and contemplate the long term. Spheres are the hope in the greater good of your actions and believing in the best that the World has to offer. Spheres represent the ability to new and innovative solutions to problems as well as the ability to compromise and be flexible and most importantly the ability to think before taking any action. Spheres are the intuitive and the emotional aspects of the self, and often ask the reader or querant to think with their heart not with their head or take a leap of faith.
Rods: These represent Earth and the Mental and Spiritual Male; the powers of analysis, logic and reason. Men in many ways are pragmatic and focused on the straight and narrow. Rods are strictly within the realm of black and white rather than the female realm of the polychromatic universe. The Rods are independent perhaps to a fault and they are free of the concerns of others and dealing only in the here and now and with the immediate. Rods often warn the reader or the Querant to stand back for a moment, get grounded and take a serious second thought about the issue. Rods represent understand the nuts and bolts of everyday life, from household tasks to activities of daily routine. |
