VII Chariot This card perhaps as much as any other card other than the Death card, represents the unknown; it is literally it is flying off into the wild blur yonder with an awareness of change and new adventures awaiting you.
The charioteer is standing set in her chariot and on her face is a look of strength, determined and an inner confidence, where she feels she can over come any challenges. If she is lacking in mental and spiritual strengths, for additional support she carries an unsheathed sword. The chariot is passing through an arched door in the citys walls heading out into the unknown. The horses pulling her are being to head in different directions and before her is a globe without any references of maps. The most noticeable trait of the unknown is that she does not have reins on her charges to control them. She is leaving her familiar surrounding, or the city of her birth to face the unknown successes and failures. She is being drawn in different directions and she has no control over the forces than are moving her or the forces around her. If to make matters worse she has only a vague idea of what lies beyond the city gates. On these city gates are the wings of angels or the wings of victory or even the wing of desire. Angels, victory and desire all lie in the unknown places, which we have yet to visit.
This card says, The Charioteer does not know what lies beyond the safe confines, with our belief we can head into the unknown and thrive.
Dignified: This card is all about self-assuredness confident and inner strength. You are rising out of the safety of your old world and bravely heading into a new world. You are fully aware that new experiences and new encounters await you. You have the strength to meet all the new things head on. You are willing to enjoy the ride to the destiny that you seek. You may not know it now but you will know it when you find it or reach it.
Reversed: This is a very strong warning against doing anything now that is risky or that those around you feel is foolhardy. It is as if you are embarking on a new journey without any understanding of what may lie ahead. Dignified this cards suggests that you have the inner strength to meet your challenges, reversed this card says you are in every way totally unprepared.
VIII Justice This is the card of facing the consequences of ones actions or inactions. It is facing the repercussion, be they responsibilities or rewards.
There is a winged angel-like creature; her gold wings are the winds of a divine judgement. Her skin is blue, as blue is the rarest of colours in nature, it indicates that her justice and judgement are not tainted by any worldly concerns or biases. The yellow light behind this figure is lightning and it is representative of absolute divine power. Her three swords are for balance and the weapons of a tribunal. She wears a halo signifying a divine spiritual choice and reward and her four horns form a crown representing Earthly power. Of all the cards this one best denotes the transition from adolescences to adulthood, and the maturity to act with wisdom with the knowledge gained on the wild and experimental journey that was experienced with the previous card the Chariot. Not all the aspects of Justice are foreboding, because with facing Justice comes strength and from that strength; respect. Both from yourself and from other, and with all of these come the power to control your destiny and therefore your future. The ultimate meaning of this card is accepting the past, the good or the bad, putting it behind you and bravely stepping into the future.
Dignified: This card urges the Querant to use great caution and awareness of intent, what you ask for will be granted, so great care should be taken before any wish is made or any action taken. What we hope for and what we desire always comes with a price or commitment.
Reversed: This card means a very unsatisfactory or unwanted outcome. The long-term consequences will far outweigh the short-term reward will, furthermore the outcome will be something that cannot be avoided or easily dismissed. If you act with any form of ill intent or malice in your heart those negative feelings will come back to you at the most inopportune time.
IX Hermit The Hermit is not a card of living alone or being lonely it is a card of incredible wisdom; if the Hermit appears in any spread for a reading it is sign of great wisdom and a great spiritual understanding.
Kneeling in the mist shrouded forest we find the Hermit, she is cloaked in a veil, which allows her to see us, but hides her image from us. This veil also protects her from the outside world and its folly and foolish nature. She is naked and does not fear her vulnerability, as she is protected in the natural and physical world by the trees and the mists. Psychologically, she is supported by the all knowing and the all-seeing Sphinx. With her to guide her and her spiritual needs is the Kabbalah, which is the tree of life and the tree of knowledge.
The Hermit is a belief in higher power, where this power lies beyond this world or within us we should embrace it.
Dignified: Appearing anywhere in a spread, this card offers support in all forms to an almost mystical degree. You are the Hermit and it is to you that others come seeking guidance and advice. You have been granted a clear understanding of your duties towards yourself and to others. You possess an inner calm and awareness that may now make you feel uncomfortable, but the more you listen to your heart and soul the greater this talent will become and the quicker it will develop. You are your best council and you should listen to yourself.
Reversed: As with this card in the dignified position, this card is reversed anywhere in a spread warns of a very serious matter that requires immediate action. If this situation is left unchecked it will become critical and may affect all aspects of your life. In this position the card is hopelessness and despair, not necessarily for you but it may be for someone around you. There is a crisis that you have ignored for too long and require action now. Although you may feel helpless you do have the support around if you look for it.
X Fortune This is the card of the unknown and of choices. Whereas the Justice card is accepting the responsibilities our actions of the past, Fortune is accepting the responsibilities of future actions
This card features a couple in an embrace in the centre of a pentagram, there are two candle one for the correct choice and one for the incorrect. Within the pentagram is the book of life, which is the ultimate in the unknown. Above the couple is a sphere of wisdom, each of its colours representing the spirits of each direction as well as the spirits above and below. There are three steps, or a trinity of steps leading to the unknown, on either side of the steps there are pillars. The steps represent leaving behind the doubts within your heart, mind and soul, the pillars are made up of a number carved female figures, this represent the generations of the past and the generations of the future. Fortune offers a number of dual or balanced outcomes. In the physical realm; the bust represent a positive fortune, immortality in stone, the skull in the opposite side is failure and oblivion. In the spiritual context, the Reaper and the Angel are both the outcomes of success or failure of your action.
We are all in control of our future and our fortune, it is how we approach the unknown and we react to the outcome that dictates our opinions of success or failure.
Dignified: Fortune dictates that you are ultimately responsible for you actions, and there is nothing gained without trying, and either way the outcome will reward the Querant with knowledge. With success you gain all things, and in failure; you still gain wisdom.
Reversed: This card warns the Querant to use extreme caution or delay action. Fortune reversed becomes misfortune and failure. With this failure there is great suffering and a destiny to repeat the failure until the knowledge is gain and the wisdom is acted upon. |
