Proxy rules: Due to the small size of this game at this time, proxy play is actively discouraged. Only under the most extreme circumstances will
proxy play be considered, and even then, the player will need to signify
their compliance with a waiver indicating that they understand the extreme
risks faced in proxy play, before such proxy play is approved.
Travel risks: The area surrounding the Okanagan Valley is heavily wooded, and
known to be dangerous at the best of times. Travel over land is relatively
normal providing you stick to common highways. Kelowna has an International
airport, and air travel to the area from within Canada is generally
uneventful. Trod information can be requested from the ST.
Challenges: (see Venue Notes)
Venue Notes:
Dross: At the narrator's discretion, players using Dross may be required to make two simple tests. If they fail both tests they will receive 1 temporary Banality (Sidhe, of course, will receive two). Visiting and local characters may only carry twice their Glamour in readily available Dross traits.
Starting Glamour Test: At the beginning of each game characters must make a
simple test with a narrator. Win: Start with full Glamour traits
Tie:Start with half Glamour traits (rounding up) Lose: Start with 1
Glamour trait. (*this test is currently in discussion of a more appropriate method.)
'Filling Up' on Starting Glamour: Dreamers and Freeholds At the start of the game (and only then), local characters may expend levels of Dreamers to gain
additional starting Glamour traits without spending 15 minutes out-of-play
per trait. Visiting and local characters may expend levels of Freehold and
use that week's Glamour to increase starting Glamour as well, gaining one
starting Glamour per level expended.
Bunks: Not all chapters use bunk cards. Visiting players may choose
thefollowing options:
Use bunk cards (make up 1 card per Glamour trait; see narrator);
Use 1 point of Glamour to forgo a Bunk and receive no Bunk traits;
Use 1 point of Glamour and make up a Bunk and receive 1 Bunk trait;
Use 2 points of Glamour and make up two Bunks and receive 2 Bunk traits.
Supplementary Style Information:
Experience: Wine & Roses Games are worth 0-6 XP per month. The median award
is 2 XP per game. However, this is dependent upon certain
minimum role-playing expectations on the part of the players. These
expectations include:
Player must be in game and in character for at least 1 hour ofgame.
Player must make a reasonable effort to stay longer than 1 hour(though we
understand such things as work obligations and real-life circumstances.)
Player must interact in character with at least 2 other players during the game (though this interaction is certainly open to interpretation by the
storytellers. Sitting alone and sulking isn't interacting. Spying on the
Sidhe Count while hidden is.)
Player's character must be in some way distinctive, either in costuming or role-play.
Extra Experience may be awarded, at Storyteller discretion, based
upon additional criteria, which, if met, will count toward a character's eligibility for extra XP:
Player is in attendance and in character for more than half of the allotted time available in the evening for the game.
Player makes a reasonable effort to interact with other players on a wide
basis / involve them in current storylines.
Player creates player-driven plotlines that draw in other players.
Player's character is definitely distinctive, both in costume
and role-play.
Player engages in out-of-session play (e.g. IRC, Kith meetings, etc.)
Players accurately portray their characters' natures and demeanors.
. Player makes a concerted effort to communicate with the Storytelling staff about character motivations and actions, and has an Extended Character
Background Sheet on file.

Style: Wine & Roses style of play focuses on role-playing and problem solving, with less emphasis on combat, and more emphasis on "thoughtful" means of addressing one's problems. The Freehold is a new one, in which the characters are carving out their own power-bases in a new city ripe for exploitation. The nobles have rarely taken an active interest in the city on a whole and the commoners have had free reign until recently. The mood is often political, with a strong focus on elements of conflict between motleys and houses, however the largest threat is the nightmares that lurk on the fringes of the city.
Antagonists:
Venue rules: Aside from the rules mentioned above, no special venue rulesare
being used at this time. Except where pre-empted by the Camarilla
RulesSupplement, Wine & Roses attempts to adhere as closely as possible to
WhiteWolf rules and source material.
Visiting character/plot policy: Visiting players must have a valid Camarilla
Membership Card, proof of Member Class, and a complete character sheet,
including experience earned and expended log, signed by their presiding
storyteller (including endorsements from appropriate storytellers for special
approval characters, items, etc.) Dark Vineyard Storytellers reserve the
right to audit any character before it enters play. Visiting players must
check in with the presiding storyteller of the Dark Vineyard prior to
entering play. Absolutely no NPC or plotlines from outside Dark Vineyard will
be allowed in Dark Vineyard games without prior approval by the Domain
Storyteller. Please Note: This is not a prohibition against outside
plotlines, etc. This simply safeguards the integrity of the Dark Vineyard
game by ensuring that the Domain Storyteller is aware of, and has approved,
any outside plots or NPC's ahead of time.
