( First let me say slaves and indentured servants can be any race or nationality
                    here. Neither system is prejudice.   Madame Rose )

What is the difference between an out right slave and an indentured servant?

An outright slave a person bought at the slave market, they are property like a vase or a horse that is owned. The owner can do what ever they wish with the slave, even sell them to another Free person, slave runners, or have them auctioned off at market. ( Within the treatment limits and rules of our home.) There is usually very little hope if any of ever being free before you are aged and no longer able to enjoy your freedom once it is attained.

(House slaves, the property of Madame Rose however are an exception to this rule. She offers all her slaves the opportunity of buying their freedom, for the amount they are worth at the time they become hers or what she pays for them at auction plus 25% . This will all be further explained on our boards under the heading of "Slave accounts and buying freedom".

An indentured servant is a person bound by a legal contract to servitude to who ever holds the contract, for a specified period of time. ( usually no less than three years and no more than seven but there have been exceptions ) There are many ways in which this can come about. 1st: Crimminals are often sentenced with terms of indenture and some come from as far away as Europe.   2nd: The poor and destitute agree to be indentured for their own survival. 3rd: Immigrants agree to be indentured to secure passage to America, their contracts are sold at auction upon arrival. 4th: Some become indentured to pay off debts, either their own, their parents, siblings, or children. They too are property and may be used any way the contract holder wishes to use them or their contract sold to another free or at auction. (though their treatment is moderately guarded by the few laws that protect them if they dare to report it and take the chance on being found a liar) But their contract travels with them, they are only bound in servitude for the designated period of time, after which they will be released and once more become a Free person.

Now the actual rules:

1. First and foremost remember you are a slave or an indentured servant. You are property, and yes even the indentured servants are looked upon as slaves for the most part until they fulfill their contract and are once more free. You have only the rights bestowed upon you by your owner, or contract holder other wise known as Master or Mistress.

2. Serves here, while observed are not critical. This is not GOR. Please keep your serves descriptive offering enough detail to let us know what you are doing but don't get carried away. We are after all here to role play and we want to know more about your personality than how you arrange food on a plate or wipe down drinking vessels before prepareing a drink.

3. Slaves while property are people too, and will be expected to be able to carry their own line of role play with out constantly having to have the attention of their owner. You after all belong to them and are there for their pleasure when it suites them.   You should have dreams and goals for yourself that you are constantly working to attain. Be it to be a better slave, do something special for your Master/Mistress, work on chores or assignments given to you by your Master or Mistress, learning new skills in your free time to become more valuable to your Master or Mistress, or to simply prepare yourself for the day when you are free if that is something you can see in your future.

This goes for the girls of the house as well. You are not here simply to pleasure the patrons though that is a major part of your responsiblities. That is your job or profession so to speak, you have a personal life and though most of you will be either slaves or indentured servants, all here will most likely be striveing to one day be free. When you have free time use it wisely, let others here get to know your personality when your not tending to their needs professionally.   Everyone is, through their role play, expected to offer something to the concept of the room, through your skills, ,talents or profession, that others may call upon you for those services, thus opening the door for more indepth role play for the slaves and indentured servants other than sexual servitude. The idea is to allow everyone to get involved so no one sits around bored and feeling neglected. (However if you are one of the girls allocated to attend to the patrons sexual desires then don't continue doing other things if they are about and seeking attention. This would not go well for you. here. )

4. All slaves and indentured servants will be respectful to the Free, be they visitors, Guests, or Members/Residents. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action and/or physical punishment. And just so it is general knowlege for any that might be into pain, disciplinary action and physical punishment does not necessarily mean it will bring forth pain. So be careful what you get yourself into.

5. Any slave or indentured servant who attempts to take their own life will be chained to the floor or wall indefinitely, with a limited amount of ability to move about thus limiting your ability to participate in role play. To gain freedom from such a situation you must prove to Madame Rose and Terrence that you sincerely wish to serve in a respectful proper manner for the duration of your enslavement or indenture.
If you are released from such a binding and fail to be a loyal obedient slave/indentured servant and/or attempt suicide again, you will be sold to slavers bound for Europe where your servitude will be sold to the highest bidder. If you are an indentured slave you might simply be taken to the magistrate to serve out your contract term incarcerated. Both removing you from role play in our room and voiding your membership. ( Of course if you are privately owned these matters are between you and your owner but remember you actions reflect upon them and endanger their membership as well as your own. )

6. Any slave, just like any Free must submit a bio for approval. The slaves and indentured servants bio should include any and all abilities and skills you have either learned or gained through your heritage.
( Here are a few examples of things you might list: languages you speak , read, or write , if you read and write at all, *and remember most slaves born into slavery could not read or write*, ability to swim, ride horse back, sew, sing, play a musical instrument, dance, acting, black smithing, carpentry, leather working, working with animals etc etc etc.. ) Your bio should include how you want your story line to draw you into role play here. Meaning how you are obtained, are you caught on the grounds without permission ( remember this means you will be considered a run away slave ) have you been sent to Madame Rose shall we say under false pretences that your family has sent you here to learn how to get along in life, or just being cast out by your family for some reason or the other. (be creative ) Or do you wish to enter into role play by being bought at auction. ( remember auctions are public and any free member may bid upon you and you go to the highest bidder who ever that might be. The bidding is done like some of the av auctions, the free calls out a number between 1 and 100 no two calling the same number of course and the decision is made when Madame Rose rolls her 100 sided die and her or Terrence calls out the winning number and the name of the Free who bid it. No re-rolling. This applies to slaves and indentured servants arriving from elsewhere by ship or wagon. ) Auctions must be scheduled and posted on the boards at least 48 hours before the auction is to take place so please be patient.

7. Once you are approved and begin to role play you should go to the boards under Extra Responsibilities and reply with at least three things you wish to undertake on a permanent basis. Every few weeks I will up date the master list and add your name by the ones you indicated. This is so you have things to do, you can do and hopefully expand your line of role play so your not sitting idle and not knowing what to do with yourself when you are not serving a patron or resident of the establishment. ( Remember though if you choose something you need to put it into your role play at least once a week or you may find yourself getting reprimanded for failling to fulfill your obligations. )

8. If you are wanting to come here with an existing owner, get them to come in and visit and contact Madame Rose or Terrence via whispers. Your owner must be an approved member before you can be approved and receive your permanent tags. They must be willing to abide by the rules under the Free pertaining to entering here with an existing slave or indentured servant. If they can do that then you are most welcome to join our room.

9. All slaves house or privately owned will maintain good hygene. House slaves will take their elixirs to prevent pregnancy before Madame Rose or Terrence with in the first five days of the month. This must be scripted and posted to the boards in their personal section.

10. Indentured servants and slaves are not permitted to leave plantation grounds with out express permission from their owner in writing. This must be role played out in the room as any Indentured servant or slave not accompanied by their Owner or Master/Mistress, must have parchment in hand stating they have permission to travel alone, where they are going, and the dates they are permitted to travel.   Without this you could be caught as a run away slave or indentured servant and trust me it won't be pleasant for you.   If it is discovered you have left the grounds of your own accord you will be hunted down with blood hounds, and I think you can imagine from there.
