| Born in the early fall of the year of our Lord 1496, into the house of Lord Angus MacKay of clan MacKay, Thailin was raised in the manner befitting a clansman of his rank and birth. Schooled in both the arts of war and in the finer points of being a proper Scotsmen. It was soon quite evident that above all, Thailin excelled in the art of combat, and at the age of twenty Thailin set out on his own to put these skills to the test. Thailin at first hired himself out as a mercenary. He grew tired of this way of life very quickly, with its lack of honor and higher purpose, and of selling ones sword to the highest bidder. So, Thailin left the mercenary life in search of find a place in which he could server with honor and in a just cause. While on his travels through Europe, he heard about a noble group of professional soldiers. He heard this group fought with honor and on the side of justice. Then and there Thailin made up his mind that he would seek out this noble band, and join their ranks if they would have him. While in his search for this group, which he learned was called the Grand Company of Leonthas. Thailin returned home for a short period to visit his farther whose health was failing. While thereThailin met Alexandria, the daughter of minor noble from highlands of Southern Lowland. Alexandria's family was staying at the MacKay estates, while her father conducted business in the region. Thailin and Alexandria spent more and more of their time together as her father fell ill.. On one of their trip out into the southern countryside, Thailin learned from a Noble passing through that the Grand Company of Leonthas was camped just out side of Yorkshire. This noble who went by the name of Kieran, informed Thailin that he was going to lead a campaign that was set to leave within the week, and bade Thailin to join him. Thailin accepted this invitation most eagerly. Thailin and Kieran agreed to meet at the town square at the end of the week, for Kieran still had some business that he needed to concluded. Thailin put this time to good use making ready to leave. However, Thailin still had one last thing that needed to do before he left. So on the night before he was to leave, he asked Alexandria to marry him, and come with him. Alexandria acccepted Thailin proposal, but told Thailin that she could not leave with him that her farther still needed her help here. But would join him as soon as her familys business was concluded and her fathers health improved. So the next morning Thailin and Alexandria said their farewells, and Thailin went off to meet with Lord Kieran. The trek down to Yorkshire was not very eventful. Thailin and Kieran spent their day riding and talking about this and that and became fast friends. It was toward the very end of their journey that Kieran informed Thailin that he knew a great deal of this Noble Company called Leonthas. And that he had, many dealings with them and would be quite happy to introduce him to the Lord of this Company of Noble soldiers. Thailin was very grateful for this and asked Kieran how he could repay him for this kindness. Kieran reply was only you can server me with honor and uphold the Kings justice for I am the Lord of the Grand Company of Leonthas, and I bid you to come join my noble company and I. Thailin was quite taken aback by the events that had just unfolded before his very eyes. Then and there Thailin swore his oath to Kieran that he would follow him, and the he would serve with honor and do all in his power to uphold the Kings justice and to protect those who needed. And since joining Kieran and his Noble Company Thailin has served with honor. |
