MTV: Any ideas as to what may be your next single?

Bell: Yeah, we're just getting started on the first one. Hopefully we'll ride on this song for a few months and maybe release another single around Christmastime. Still kinda unsure about which one that'll be. There are a few that are in the hat. The song "Bad Day,"] and there's another song called "Last Time," and then another song called "Innocent."

Scallions I vote for "Last Time."

Bell: I vote for "Last Time."

Scallions: All right, you heard it first right here. "Last Time"  is the next single.

MTV: That's what I wanted to know. It's a great song to start the album out with. You put it on and it just grabs you.

Scallions: Kick in the head.

Bell: That was the intention.

MTV: How about "Innocent"?

Bell: "Innocent"? I don't know, I'm getting inspired by all this bad stuff that I see that people think is good, or whatever. But they wanted me to write a song for this movie, like a year or so ago. I was in New York and I went to see the screening of it to see if I wanted to write a song for it. I thought the movie was horrible, but I said, "I'll write a song for it anyway." So I wrote "Innocent" for this movie. But then I said this song is too good for that horrible movie. So I just held it. Maybe it'll become a single, I don't know.

Scallions: Tell them the movie. Go ahead.

Bell: Tell them the movie?

Scallions: Who cares?

Bell: The movie was "Cruel Intentions," and I saw it and it just went nowhere for me. And maybe it was just me, I don't know. Maybe I should be a 14-year-old girl or something and I might understand it, but for me it just didn't do anything, so I just held the song.

MTV: And "Bad Day"?

Bell: "Bad Day" [RealAudio] has been with us forever. It's one of the songs we used to play before we were signed. We always got a great response when we played it. The crowd was always into it. And they used to know all the words, without ever having a copy of it. So they absolutely had to learn it from us playing live.
MTV: You guys love touring, but then there's a time when you have to go back into the studio. Do you find it stifling? Or do you just embrace everything that you can?

Bell: I think this time was very cool for us. The studio experience was very cool. Ben [producer Ben Grosse] was great to work with. And it was light and fun, but at the same time I know a lot of work was getting done. And that was a great experience with him. Before I went back, when we got off the road and went into the studio, I was kind of dreading going into the studio. But it was a lot better this time. I think the record shows that, as well. I enjoyed it a lot. But at the same time, I like it when it's finished, too, and you can get back out on the road. I was thinking if I was poor Ben and I had to go right into another project in a studio, and that's all I had to look forward to for the rest of my life...

Scallions: He was a vegetable when we were done with him.
(RealVideo)

Bell: I don't know if I could handle that, either.

Scallions: He looked horrible.

Bell: He hung in there, though. He's a trooper, that guy. But it was so weird. We were looking for a house in the Poconos. Just somewhere to get away so we could live in one place. And this family moved out of their brand new house for us to come in and literally take over. They were fans of the band, and were like, "Sure, we'll move out for you guys." Hey, I wouldn't even move out for these guys. They left their dogs. Their refrigerator was stocked. It was the most bizarre thing. But it was really cool, and they were awesome about it.

Scallions: Those dogs were like clockwork. Every time dinner was ready, you didn't even have to ring the bell. They just knew.

Bell: But it was a brand new house, and they moved out for us.

Scallions: This guy built this house with his own bare hands and everything.

Bell: And moved out. Took his wife. His wife, I think, didn't go so easily.

Scallions: She's like, "I don't wanna leave my kitchen!" It was crazy.

MTV: Any fears about this new release?

Scallions: Yeah, flopping. People not giving a damn, that's a fear. We always hope for the best, though. We don't expect anything. We just hope that the fans will love what we're giving to them as much as we enjoyed making it.
