IN MEMORY OF WORLD WAR I
Memories that are cherished
Of brave soldiers at war.
Those lives which had perished
Above earths very core.
Leaving their loved ones,
They chose not to hide.
They chose not to run,
But showed their pride.
They fought hand-to-hand.
They fought to be free.
There was war on land,
And war on the sea.
Vimy Ridge was won,
But many had been lost.
Victory had come,
But came with a cost.
Each man played a role;
He tried to stay alive.
They gave us their souls;
They gave us their lives.
The trenches were unbearable,
Yet their path was chosen.
The pain was insufferable,
But their hearts laid open.
The war finally ended
On the eleventh of November.
Conflicts had mended,
But would be remembered.
The poppies now grow
In remembrance of their fight.
Their bravery would show,
Like a spectrum of light.
Their sacrifices made,
Their hard-fought endeavour.
Their honour will not fade,
But live on forever.
