WARTIME
[in the perspective of life in WWII]

Men sent out to war, as they set out for sea,
Forced to leave homes and abandon families.
The essence of war destroys hopes of peace,
As people are silenced and harmony ceased.

Women left alone on the front of the home land,
Expected to survive, without a helping hand.
Strung by emotions, as they hope to be free,
Endlessly worrying for their husbands at sea.

Children distraught, without their fathers aid,
Unaware of sacrifices that must be made.
Some are harmed among the commotion,
As humans are injured across the oceans.

Time goes on as prejudice runs high,
Fear and anger controlling lives.
Unfair treatment of those who dont belong,
As society disregards the right and the wrong.

People are harmed, as they grieve each loss,
Victory attained, but suffering costs.
Emotions shattered, lives not meant to be,
In this unjust place we call society.
