THE REAL ME
[written in the style and format of the poem "What Do You See, Nurses?"]
What do you see, friends,
What do you see
Are you thinking when
you are looking at me-
A quiet, religious girl,
Without a backbone,
Whose idea of fun
Is reading a book at home.
A perfectionist,
Who needs everything right,
Whos quite intelligent
and very bright.
A teachers pet,
Who would do anything a teacher says,
Even if it means dusting the dirt off
Their shoes all her days.
Is that what youre thinking?
Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, friend;
You are not looking at me.
Im a loyal, steadfast,
And caring friend,
Someone you can depend on
Until the end.
A talented writer
With her own thoughts and mind,
A compassionate person,
Truly one of a kind.
A person with deep morals,
Values, and integrity,
Who places friendship
And honesty highly.
Im not a religious person,
My faith is real to me,
Gods amazing love has lit
A passionate fire within me.
So open your eyes, friends,
Open and see,
Not a quiet, religious girl,
Look closer - see me!
