ALL I CAN BE IS ME

Some people make it their business to tell others who to be and what to say.
The bottom line is, people just can't be themselves today.
Everywhere I look, people try to please others, giving in to pressure from their peers.
All they're doing is being someone they're not, and escaping from their fears.

Discrimination takes over all of us, especially the young.
No one can be themselves today, 'cause the pressure's just begun.
No matter where you run, you cannot escape,
But you need to make your own decisions, before others choose your fate.

Liars, gossipers, backstabbers - they bring down my self-esteem,
But they are insecure about themselves; they are not what they seem.
I cannot express myself if others tell me what to say.
I don't care if I am different - I will find my way.

True friends will show you who you are - they don't tell you what to do.
If you stay close to those people, they will help you through.
I'm tired of people telling me what to say and who to be,
'Cause I am who I am; all I can be is me.
