“Genesis and formation environments of the hydrothermal gold mineralizations of the island arc geologic setting in West Java, Indonesia”
Research
area :
The
target area of this research is the Bayah dome which is well known as gold
district in West Java. The
detailed research will be focused at the Cikidang area, while the other part of
the Bayah dome such as Pongkor, Cirotan and Cikotok will be compared to observed
the time - spatial distribution and mineralization processes related with
volcanic activity in island arc geologic setting.
Research
objectives :
“The
development of genetic model for the gold deposit in island arc geologic setting
in Indonesia”.
Methodology
:
The
methodology will be divided into three different stages:
1.
Field investigation: Field
survey and sampling from drilling core and/or underground working, observation
of modes of occurrence of ores and altered host rocks.
2.
Laboratory work :
a.
Determination of mineralogy and textures by Microscope, EPMA, XRD;
b.
Determination of elements of ore by X-ray Fluorescence, Neutron
Activation Analysis (NAA), ICP-MS;
c.
Fluid Inclusion study: Measurements of homogenization temperature and
salinity, chemical composition analysis by heating-cooling stage, Lazer laman,
FT-IR.
d.
Satellite image processing by remote sensing method to understand the
structural features and regional tectonic of the region;
e.
Stable isotopes of H, O, S and C measurements for ore and gangue
minerals, altered rocks and fluid inclusions.
3.
Interpretation of the formation
conditions and ore genesis, especially from the viewpoint of island arc geologic
setting.
