FOURTH GENERATION

8. Gilbert LEE was born on May 28 1865 in KY. He died on Aug 3 1947 in Rose Hill, VA. Gilbert owned land in Bell County in the late 1800's. He moved to Lee County in the early 1900's because of some trouble and the threat of death to himself and his family. He is the only brother that actually died of natural causes. He was know as honest man but one that would take exception with you if you tried to cheat him. One of the stories I have been told was when Boone's Path Bank failed he went to get his money and was told that there was no money. He told the man it was his money or it would be his life. He was one of very few that got thier money back.
He owned a store in the Rose Hill area( receipts and debts in photo pages.) He also owned a large farm in Possum Hollow near the Rose Dale Church about five miles from Rose Hill, VA He raised cattle, corn and tobacco. He also help drill the first oil wells in Lee County. The second oil well in Lee County was drill on his farm. This is where I live today. He was married to Melvina (Vina) COMBS.

9. Melvina (Vina) COMBS was born on May 25 1888. She died Aug.. Children were:

i. Manford LEE was born on Dec 30 1904. He died on Jan 13 1989 in Lee County,VA Burial in Lee Cemetary Rose Hill.
ii. Verla LEE was born on Dec 1 1906. She died on Dec 17 1976.
iii. Pearla LEE was born on Sep 17 1909. She died on Jun 20 1983 in Lee County,VA burial in Daniels Cemetary.
iv. Arita LEE was born on Oct 16 1911.
v. Bertha Lee LEE was born on Apr 22 1914.
vi. Areltta LEE was born on Sep 17 1916. She died on Dec 5 1921.
4 vii. Arthur LEE.
viii. Robert E. LEE was born on Aug 5 1926. He died on Sep 28 1977 in Annapolis MD.
