The question of a state owned sex industry

Am i understanding you correctly? Are you proposing that the Socialist State carry out the production of pornography (replacing the pimps) so that this material will be produced under supposedly less abusive conditions?

Whew. I can't imagine that many women will thank the new revolutoinary state for continuing (and itself organizing) the production of pornography.

How do you fight for equality and non-objectification of women in a societywhere the state cranks out porn as part of "socialist planning"?

Don't you think that widespread use and availability of pornography affects how women GENERALLY are viewed and treated (mistreated)?

Don't you think that even so-called "socialist" porn production will be defacto "filmed prostitution"?

In Vietnam, after the U.S. was defeated, there were almost 250,000 women and tens of thousands of boys who had been pressganged into sexually servicing the U.S. invaders. The revolutonary government worked to re-integrate them into society, lift the burden of shame and degradation, give them training and a new life.

I think that is a correct policy.

I also think that the experience (of u.s. gi's) being "serviced" by Asian women played a huge role in the jump in pornography in the U.S. (its current open acceptance as part of the culture). And what impact did this massive indoctrination as sex industry "consumers" have on their future relations with women (back in the states) -- and what impact did this have on the status and treatment of women "back home"?

I am against "puritanism" and against treating sex as something shameful. But porn is not just "sex" -- it is sex-bought-and-sold-for-money (meaning WOMEN bought and sold for money).

We should support an open attitude toward sexuality -- but also grapple with ways of having intimacy that promote the equality of women -- and relations with mutual respect and caring
