Voltes V

by Rory Esperanza

Aliens from the planet Boazania invades the earth under the leadership of Prince Zardos in order to enslave humans.  On Boazania, people who don't have horns are treated as slaves while the horned one rules.   Headed by Hainel (Prince Zardos), a Boazanian prince, they attacked the earth with their UFOs and battle robots.   On an island called Camp Big Falcon, five teenagers were trained to pilot five special crafts which combine into a robot fighter.  Kentaro Gou (Dr.  Armstrong) is the father of  Ken-Ichi (Steve), Daiziro (Big Bert), and Hiyoshi (Little John).   He's originally from the planet Boazania, and on earth he created Voltes V, Camp Big Falcon, the Solar Bird and the North Pole Laboratory.  Mitsuyo Gou is Kentaro's wife on Earth.  Ken-Ichi (Steve Armstrong) is an expert in firearms and he pilots the first voltcraft, Volt Cruiser.  Ippei Mine (Mark Gordon) is a cowboy and he pilots the second voltcraft, Volt Bomber.  Daijiro Gou (Big Bert Armstrong) is Ken-ichi's brother who is an expert in martial arts and he pilots the third voltcraft, Volt Panzer.  Hiyoshi Gou (Little John) is Ken-ichi's little brother that has talent in diving and underwater exploration, an inventor and technician, he pilots the fouth voltcraft, Volt Frigate.  Megumi Oka (Jamie Robinson), daughter of General Oka (General Robinson), is the only female member of The Voltes V team, she has ninja capabilities and she pilots the fifth voltcraft, Volt Lander.  Professor Hamaguchi (Dr. Smith) and Professor Gou (Dr. Armstrong) worked together in designing the Voltes V robot.  Later, Prof. Hamaguchi was killed in trying to save Voltes V.  General Oka (General Robinson), Megumi's (Jamie) father, was also killed when he saved Megumi.  Megumi found a ring and wore it that turned out to be an enemy robot.   It possessed Megumi's mind and turned her into evil.  Professor Sakonji (Dr. Hook) took over Hamaguchi's (Dr. Smith) place after his death.  He trained the Voltes V crew harder and later, added one more weapon on Voltes V.   The weapon was a failure until a mysterious red mechanical eagle, piloted by General Danbei (Dr. Watson) sends a full Voltes V blueprint.  After some adjustments and combining with the mechanical eagle, the weapon was completed and enabled the laser sword to fire ultraelectromagnetic ball.  Hainel (Prince Zardos) is Ken-Ichi's (Steve) brother and Prof. Gou (Dr. Armstrong) is also Hainel's father.  Hainel doesn't know this because Prof. Gou doesn't have horns on his forehead like the other Boazanians.  After the slave rebellion failed, he goes to earth and prepares our planet to defend against the Boazanians.  He marry an earth girl and bore three children, Ken-Ichi, Daiziro and Hiyoshi.  When the Solar Falcon (Camp Big Falcon combined with the Solar Bird) landed on Boazania, Gou was able to free himself and tried to stop the duel between Ken-Ichi and Hainel by telling them the blood connection between them. This was a shock for both Ken-Ichi and Hainel.  Hainel killed his evil uncle, Emperor Sambojir and decided to die rather than to live bearing the truth the he was fighting his family.   Ken-Ichi screamed when he saw Hainel burned to death.  Prof. Gou was born of a royal Boazanian Family but without horns.  His parents put fake horns on him to hide the truth.  He became a minister of science and was next in line to become an emperor.  He marries Losaria (who become's Hainel's mother).  Just when he was about to be crowned, the prince Zambojir discovered Gou's secret and exposed him. Gou became a slave and later leads a rebellion.  He then escapes to earth and creates Voltes V.

Specifications:
Height: 58 meters
Weight: 600 tons
Max.Speed: Mach 20
Energy Source: Choudenji Energy
Combining Time: 8.0 sec (6.8 sec with power up)
Weapons:
1: Voltes Beam is an energy beam.

Volt Laser is a standard laser attack.

Choudenji Wave is similar to the Voltes Beam except it makes a larger damage.
2: Choudenji Goma (Ultraelectromagnetic tops).  A top with four sharp blade on its sides.

Voltes' stomach part can open and fired this top from within. Voltes can shoot up to two tops at one time.
3: Choudenji String / Rope (Ultraelectromagnetic belt). Voltes can pull out its "belt" forming a pair of whip.

Usually used to spin Chodenji Goma.
4: Ground Fire. Fire attack from the center of the belt
5: Gatling Missiles (Finger Missiles). Voltes fires these missiles from its fingertips.
6: Voltes Bazooka (Arm Gun). When Voltes bend its right hand down, a bazooka barrel come from inside its hand.

Voltes uses the other arm to pull the trigger.
7: Chain Knuckles. Chains with a sharp end.  Fired when Voltes retract its hands.

8: Tenkuken (Laser Sword).  Definetely Voltes' most powerful weapon.  Always used to finish the enemy off.  The "M" can form a sword and with it, Voltes can slice the enemy into two forming a "V" slice.  Choudenji Ball (Ultraelectromagnetic Ball), later in the series, was fired from the tenkuken in a ball form to weaken the enemy's armor.
