| The Economics and Politics in the 1980’s and today are somewhat similar because of the economic rebound from a small decline and spending from a war time situation. The economics of Regan’s administration was a supply-sided stand and this is not that different from the type of economic plan Bush Jr. has today. The “Reganomics” of the 1980’s limited government regulations on businesses and reduces taxes to boost economic growth. The economic plan of George W. Bush is also reducing taxes and is taking the republican stance of limiting government regulations on most businesses. The Cold War was a war of fear between the USSR and the U.S. that made the U.S. increase it’s spending in the military. The armament spending for the defense of the country made a large federal deficit that set the economy back a little from its rebounding from the small recession that was in the early 1980’s. Today we have a similar situation of the War on Terror that is taking a lot of troops and money away from our government and economy and into the Middle East. Many international affairs were happening during the 1980’s like Tiananmen Square and the fall of the Berlin Wall, today there are a lot a lot of international affairs like the Democratization of Afghanistan and Iraq. In the 1980’s these events shaped the administration because they mad them make difficult decisions like going into Germany to help break up the separation of East and West. George W. Bush’s administration had to make the difficult decision of going into the Middle East to free them of the Dictators and help them make a peaceful democracy. The Economics and the Politics of these decades shaped them to become great decades for change in World History. |
