My Background

My new mom, Kim, had been feeding a community of feral cats for about 6 months before she found me.  She discovered our big family when my brother,  Rory, fell off a roof and was adopted by her.  One afternoon after work, my mom headed out to her car when the neighborhood kids called her over to the bushes.  Hidden in there was little me, a tiny grey kitten frozen in fear.

My mom had to make a quick decision.   I was not an orphan, because my cat mama was only a few feet away.  But I was homeless, and I was going to grow up feral if she didn't take me.  She'd have to recapture me later to get me spayed, and then release me again.  So she reached into the bushes and grabbed me!  I was very frightened.  She told me she wasn't going to hurt me, but I didn't believe her.  My cat mama taught me to stay away from people except when they feed you!  I hissed fiercely but I was too little to be much of a threat!  She tucked me into the hem of her shirt and had the kids lead her around to find more kittens, my siblings.  She couldn't find anymore that day.

She wondered what to do with me, and finally decided she'd have to foster me until I could be adopted.  So she brought me home.  She estimated me to be 4 weeks old, so she had to go buy me some kitten formula.  She brought me to a vet, where the receptionists thought I looked to be only 3 weeks old.   Then we went home, where she tried to feed me with a bottle.  I was eager, but I wasn't very good at it!   I licked at the nipple.  She put some in a dish and I did better that way.  Then she tucked me into a box with a hot water bottle in the bathroom, where I spent the night.   I could hear my brother Rory sniffing at the door curiously, but we had to stay separated until I got a checkup to prove my health!

When I went to my checkup, my mom was surprised to be told I was actually 6 weeks old!   A very tiny 6 week old.   That's why I didn't know how to suck the bottle!   My mom got me started on regular kitten food then and I began growing.  Two weeks later I was finally able to be tested for feline leukemia, and I was negative.  So then I got to meet my new brother for the first time!  I loved him, especially his long tail.  He was nervous about me at first, but came to love me quickly!

I'm still a petite little thing.  I think I'll always be small.  But I'm the sweetest baby.  I love to play with and snuggle my big brother.  He's a bit rough with me sometimes, but I'm never afraid of him.  I love to cuddle my new mom and dad too, but I save almost all of my purrs for Rory.
