Well, they
were all having a classic Hunter Thompson time in
the hotel: Tree Frog, Margaritas, juleps, champagne,
gonja, a little
coke, crank, shrooms, peyote, acid and a touch of ecstasy.
One
dandy fine buzz! But they were in the band.
Do we sense a problem
here?
Kit sent,
O, a hundred thousand to the IRS for the second
quarter, BR rounding it off for them in consideration
of their present
condition. The phone bill was a catastrophe, though,
and the other
bills, all the FBO bills heading them up. But that was
"cake", Kit
said.
"Keep on"
the lights in the night sky were dotting out at one
point in the eve when Jess and Kit went out on the balcony,
while
"Spirits In The Sky" was playing on the radio out of
Monument.
They assumed the spirits meant it for them, since the
"points of
light" were over their part of the world, even though
moving West
slowly at their altitude of what looked like one hundred
thousand
feet. Anyway, our champions decided to clear up their
heads and
get back to work soon. They checked Pute, but their computers
showed no problems. And signatures were approaching four
billion,
the dollars heading for $9B. Critical mass had definitely
been
reached. They just chalked it up to "serendipity" that
they had gone
outside and looked up at the right time, even though
it was a big
"window". And it just didn't really scare them anymore
that
whoever was doing it was up there.
Security for
Paris was a nightmare. "Sounds Of Silence"
became one of the "buzz" anthems on the WPG Network.
But the
decision had been made: sure it was dangerous as hell
for all the
leaders in the world to be in one place at one time,
but it was
appropriate for them all to be there for THIS event.
And aren't they
supposed to be, uh, brave, courageous and bold?
Well, it was their
time. So it was still a "go".
Later that
night, Toto came on at Monument with "I Won't
Hold You Back". And Jess and Kit walked through how they
were
being with each other. Looking at it. Analyzing it. Disecting
it. Seeing
how healthy it was. Just for a reality check. And Code
was telling his
love that he was not about holding her back from anything
or anyone
or everything she wanted to achieve. Or even lovers.
But she did not
want anyone else, and told him that he sure was
not holding her
back. Must have been that feminine hormone, though, or
whatever it
is. She was attached. Straight to Cody.
"God..." was all he could
reply. Well, after "awww, Jessee..." or those other werdz.
He had
reached for all the luck in the world and he had GOTTEN
it. For
some dam reason. That's all they could come up with for
an
explanation.
Anyway, Tuesday
ran into Wednesday, which chain-reactioned
into Thursday. And they were "keeping on" for the spirits,
getting
that war zone cooled down with all the help from the
WPG and all,
Boris even changing gears on it. So they found alternate
crews for
Chechnya and the eight of them took the Lear to Jerusalem.
They
made the Way of Jeez' ole Cross path, went up to Olivet,
stopped in
at the Temple and Sepulcher, flew over to Bethlehem,
then Nazareth
and all that holy stuff. It was "'git' back holy," Jess
said. The girls
left flowers and money at all the holy spots. And Kit
was making
pilgrimage himself: thanking the Almighty for Jessy and
the WPG
success. God, really just for Jess, he admitted. They
asked Jeez to
come on back, but offered up their work in case He wasn't
ready.
Then they
flew over to Cairo and toured there. Pretty much
one place to go. "This is awful romantic, Cody," Jess
was saying to
our guy a lot as they perused the Great Pyramid.
"Yep," he
answered, being the wordy and always humor-
attempting coot that he is. "Sure are a lot of
places I'd love to love
with ya, me precious," he thought of to add.
"So what's
stoppin' ya?" she finally pinned on him as they
entered the King's Chamber.
"People, I
guess," he went on, actually worried about whom
might barge in to see her.
She told him
that they could not get any deeper into Cheops'
old party room and that the other guys would protect
their privacy,
so proceeded with taking their clothes off for a very
exquisite
copulatory event, Jess recounting their time in the Capitol
building
and how far they had come, while Flece and Keri
watched the
"door" for them. O that nymphomania. The girl sure was
stricken.
But what a body for it! God, the man's
LUCK!
They were
becoming eternally entwined. And men all around
the globe wanted Jess, now that they had seen and heard
her, and
were not taking her involvement with Cody lightly any
longer. She
had fallen deeply in love with him, that was unmistakable
fact. And it
was probably just those dang hormones or whatever that
is. Yep.
Yea, sure. Not only suitors, but her entire family was
trying to stop it.
Even Kit was still trying to apprise her of where she
was heading,
though with appropriate reticence for a man wanting to
hold onto his
true love. But she knew. She is a genius,
after all. And she knew
what the last three months had done for her. So there
she and Cody
were, deepest in the soul of the Great darn Pyramid making
almighty
passionate love. Once more. And folks were trying to
catch glimpses
of them inside the Chamber, but Flee and Keri kept their
friends
protected.
Buz and Savvy
themselves were erotomaniacing heavily in the
Queen's Chamber, since the King's was taken, and Gena
and Will
nearby. Poor Flee and Keri, the guys felt, until they
learned the girls
were getting on themselves when the other people gave
up and left,
some actually out of respect. Anyway, they completely
commandeered the Pyramid for hours, and maybe 31 degrees
latitude
and longitude itself!
The price,
of course, when finished, was a Jessy concert. And,
my dam, what a gnarly set. Right from the King's Chamber!
The
WPG Flower Power Network dished right in and it was the
mother
of all pre-Pari sets. Dugged, dubbed and done. (Must
be a law firm
somewhere.)
They puted
up inside those 203 layers of megaliths after her
concert and picked up on the black ops and other threats
for Paris
and passed it on to Kim, just in case the Execs were
not getting it.
But they were. And the guys felt useless again, though
resting
assured.
After finishing
up another little sexcapade in the King's bedroom
- the others all joining our two and some new friends
keeping their
privacy for the pleasure of watching and such - they
flew up the Nile
to Luxor, flying low to take in the temples of Karnac
and all, then
scooted North to Crete and got their ganders at those
places of
antiquity (what, the first flushing toilet?), then went
on to Athens to
take in the Parthenon, the temples, the Greeks, the Bakliva
and the
rest before dark, then winged on to Paris for the signing-eve
party
with all the guys.
As they taxied
in, the Executives were asking, via Pute, if the
guys knew of Deepheart's plans for the signing. They
gave a "haven't
the foggiest...sorry" in reply. But the E's knew the
game, and just kept
playing along. Black ops was peculiarly "off screen",
they also learned.
"They wouldn't
have given up, would they've?" Jess wondered.
"Well, at
noon tomorrow they'll be part of WPF, so they might
have. But I bet the guys'll have to keep an eye on 'm,"
Coder
answered.
They found
out that the FAA had cleared Rockhead and North
Air of any violations, probably all the publicity of
the IPO helping.
The IRS was still investigating Truchas, though, and
Jess wanted to
call Bill about it, but that was just bragging rights
between she and
Kit, BR was handling it fine. The DC 3 in Sarajevo was
fixed, and
they decided on continuing flights with it to North Air
connections,
and would ask Will and Gena to hire crews and handle
the business,
if they wanted it. They had arranged for the DC 7's good
engines to
be shipped to Rockhead, and the rest of the ship would
remain there
at the airport as a monument, per Sara's idea, the bovine-killing
prop
to be set on top of a little ediface in front of the
plane, with a plaque
beneath. And they gave the Cessna 421 to Ingrid, back
in
Copenhagen, to use for North Air connector flights, if
she wanted.
"Becoming
quite the magnates, A?" Flee commented as she and
Jess lit up some cigars after shutdown. Real cigars.
There were
threats galore for Paris. The leaders had considered
signing at home over TV simulcast, but then a majority
agreed with
the unanimous Execs' opinion and the high numbers from
the polls
that something that big had to be done with great
ceremony. And all
the elite military teams honestly believed that they
could handle
anything thrown at them. So leaders had been ariving
in the last 24
hours, plus millions of people from all over the globe,
joining the
substantial multitude already congregated there, besides
those who
live there. The City of Light was party TOWN!
Our guys got
to the hotel, got their rooms and called everyone,
who were all in the same hotel, natch. And that reunion
was epic. So
many stories to tell. So much love between them. So deep
the
attachments. Flece was handling Julio and BR just fine,
both of them
taking it all right and sharing. There would be the night
to figure out,
though, which was making things kind of interesting with
the side
bets and all, but BR said that he had other people in
town that he
was expected to be with, which thickened the plot and
the pot. It
surely would be played by ear.
Keri was getting
to know everyone, and her romantic
inclinations were also conjectured upon, seeing how fond
she and
Flee were of each other. And Estrella was quite the bunny,
though
Phil had his strong dibs. Kenja and Josh were extremely
serious, it
looked, and Kit got some time to talk with them. But
everybody was
just crazy about being together again, and getting to
know Buz,
Savvy, Gena, Will and Keri, besides getting chemistried
to their
personal preferences before going out to the parties.
After Mona,
Sofia, Sara, Walt and Gabrielle showed up, that's what
they did,
though they first called Truchas before the girls called
home.
Jessy was
asked to sit in with all the bands wherever they
went, and she would take at least Flece and Essy up to
the stage to
perform with her. And they were raved. Their party after
was back
in the kids' rooms and Flee did take Juli and
BR, one at a time,
back to their room. Jess won the bets. Gabrielle and
Julio got
interested in each other while Flece was gone with BR.
Keri was
just enjoying all the fun, but did go back to our guys'
room with
Jessy and Kit when Code said he had to get some sleep.
But
everybody was so drunk or drugged by then it did not
register to
too many.
