The cheers were deafening - they could tell over the radio - and
continued on and on for minutes. They felt like rock stars. Navy
choppers landed on Mustang and agents got the boxes, still very hot,
and flew off. There were obviously no tracks on the grass runway, but
the guys had learned earlier that the suits had also found their footprints
at Trinity, so had their shoe sizes. Definitely one man and one woman,
the government knew. Well, that was an oops, caused by their rush
there, but the guys weren't too concerned. There seemed to be,
thankfully, um, some lack of factual depth.
Anyway, the three were a little teary as they hugged and kissed
before taking the 'mitter back inside. Then they went over to rejoin their
pards on the veranda. Their minds were racing, but they wanted a "time
out" with their familia. Both Kit and Jess were a little down, though.
Like with post-partum depression. The words. They are never good
enough. It's action that counts. Their hologram babies were out there
and gone. All three.
"Did you guys hear that message?" Jul started.
"Yeah!..." Jessica perked up, "...what'd you think of it, Hool?"
"MagNIFico!, No, Ria?" Jul told her.
Maria agreed in nods with all her heart and added, "it's what life
should be...si?..." and smiled at Kit and Jess.
"Just so awesome, guys..." Julio contributed.
And they all listened to the performers' responses on stage at
Monument over the radio in words and music. It was "...back to
epiphany..." (one of the new lines of lyrics in the concert song).
They watched the moon rise and started grillin' dinner as they
"herd" Wallo's dogs barking away down the mountain.
"Out chasing agents, soun's like" Kit said. And that was the fact.
It was a nice night up there. Not too cold. Though with things going
so dam good, Kit wondered what the bad news was going to be. And
transferred that thought over to Maria with a look of what he was
thinking about.
Felecia and Julio took each other for a walk... "to look at the
jewels," Flee smiled, after eats of the steak, and our other four ended up
in Ri's and Jul's bed together and shared themselves in, you well might
imagine, the deepest of emotions that life affords us, as the concert
reached the Sunday apex of glory. Man O man O...God. Ineffable. Just
epiphanally ineffable. What can a writer write? IT is deeds that count.
Well, it was back to affairs after the ecstasy. They planned things
out as they smoked a celebratory puro in Ri's and Jul's bed. They
would get Juliet back together and down to Espanola on the right night
and ask Wallo and Junior to transform her back into Papa in a hangar
down there. And they would get the jewels and the Plat out of the
mine.
Jul sassed, "a la vay, Jessy, there's nada mas for you to discover
up there!" as they all laid there naked together.
"O, Hool...who knows..." she beamed and leaned over and kissed
him and touched him again as Ri fondled with Kit.
They would get the computer and TV sat dishes up on the cabins
(keeping the piano deal quiet still to surprise Ri and Jul). They would
get some young couple occupying the Cody ranch. And they would go
back to Alaska and fly computers from there into Asia and India.
"That's where the people are," Jessy thought outloud.
"Carumba!" Julian commented in Kit's direction. "...'Carse, I
think I know where you get your energy...Waldo..."
"Que es surpriso, A, 'meeg?" Kit snickered back.
