        "I forgot."
"O great!...And we're going to end war?!..Come on, Cody! Give
me some confidence here," she tweaked.
        "I remember now," he smiled.
        "O, whew," she deadpanned.
"It was just that this is so...unbelievable. You're with me..." and
he looked in her big deep blue sky eyes, "and told me how you...feel
about me....I guess I never believed in all of my dreams about you that
the reality could be...this...."
"That's all it was? Jeeze," she razzed, then gave him a great look
along with, "well, you might wanta rachet up your dreams some then,
Kitter."
He just let out a breathy "hoo," with a look of wonder at her.
She laughed, then took his free hand in hers and put them both in
her lap and said, "I'm really, really happy you came back to find me...
Kit....."
"Haw lord, Jessy..." and brought her hand to his mouth for some
kisses before she returned their hands back to her lap, putting his right
up in there. O my. "I wish I knew what to say..." he added, and really
was searching through all his pieces of brain as he drove them up the
highway. He tried, "...anything good I've done in my life, Jess, must
have been done to get to here...and hear you say that...you're everything
I ever dreamed you would be and everything more that I wished for and
then...you're even more...it's like I've gone to heaven, Jessy...I mean, it
really is....God, I wish i could say something...." He looked at her face
and felt his hand being gently caressed by hers, and her lap, and he felt
right back where he started. "Aww, lord...."
She was feeling empathy, though, for his trying to explain his
feelings, and just listening. It's hard to say how great something really
great is, she was thinking. Then she leaned over from her seat and gave
him a very sweet kiss on his cheek.
"You can say something, Kit," she said softly as she leaned back
over to her seat.
"God, Jess, I...adore you," he answered as he looked over to her,
then took a deep breath and tried to get back to business: "so...when
you go home...what will you tell Ginny...and them?"
"O...they probably won't even be there. But, if anyone is, I'll just
tell them I'm going to Florida with Flee, which is what I was going to do.
Remember her?"
"Sure!...Felecia, you mean, right? You're still close, huh?

"Closest...est," smiling at borrowing his vernacular. "We've backed
each other a bunch of times...and not got caught yet..." she smiled, "but
that's if i go home..." giving him a look of love, "though there's clothes
and...stuff...to get."
"We can get anything you need or want in D.C., or anywhere. But
that's your call."
"Well, that could work. Anything, huh? Words like that could get
you in trouble, cowpoker," and gave him a smart smile.
"Well, how about words like, within reason?"
"I thought you loved me," she panned.
"OK. Anything," he smiled back, betelling his conviction from
thinking about the mine. "Anything, my beautiful, luscious, precious,
goddess majesty," bringing her hand to his lips for more kisses while
looking at her face and elsewhere in awe.
"You really do like me a lot, don't you?" she smiled at him. He
nodded like a puppy, looking at her, then the road, and back and forth
as he drove them onward to Lunken the back way around the East side
of the Kentucky side of the city. "Aw darlin'," she added, "you're such
a fresh breeze come into my life....My ten-yeared love's come back for
me...and right at the perfect time," and took his hand to her face for
her kisses, then returned it to "home".
"Aw, Jess...can you 'magin' my...happiness...that you were free...
are free?"
"O yeah I can....Can you 'magin' mine that you are?"
"Not too exactly...but I'll try," and turned to see her seriousness,
though actually just her face again. "But if you're feelin' half as lucky
as I am, it's a start on the luck we're going to need, honey..." then he
got another memory of the Chief and added, " but there's something
else, maybe, Jess..." and told her about it, including that it may have
been a hallucination, though one darn real one.
"Maybe it was a vision." She had been absorbed with his telling
and became more excited when she told him of her dream like it the
night before! His jaw dropped (yep, again) and he looked at her with
startled eyes. "I think...we're really meant to be doing this, Kit..." she
attempted to interpret it all. "This is so full of life! And I've waited for
my real pal, y' know what I mean, pal?" leaning over to put her arms
around him for another kiss and hug. Kit nodded, watching traffic, in
the pleasantest of mild shock. "Ten years," she smiled when he turned
his head to see her.
"Ten years, pal," he raised his brows and smiled back at her.
"You love me to death, don't'cha?" she added and saw his puppy
look and nods again as he turned his head back to the road. "And I never
stopped loving you, Kit. God. I have been so waiting for this! It's the real
thing! I wasn't always that sure it'd be with you...darlin'...I guess because
of our ages...but sure thought about looking for you sometimes," relishing
the quintessant amazement and joy in his face. "And we're going to try to
make real history together!...And need all the luck..." and they looked
seriously at each other and nodded together.
"To not get caught," he said.
"To not get caught," she affirmed. "Or do anything too wrong too
long," she added.
"Roger that," he answered. "This is just...so...incredible....I mean,
the way you're taking to all of this....It's like my life's been for bringing
it to you. I probably don't know how to say this...but you're really...big."
Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" was playing on WEBN. So he
went on to tell her of the Good Friday when he was plowing the sandy
land of East Colorado in the Bowen Arrow's big eight-wheel Case tractor
and that same song had come on at 3PM and those raindrops had fallen
onto his windows out of a clear sky to make a farmer think of Mary's
own tears.
"Wow, Kit...that's a nice story, honey...and I think you meant the
'big' I think you meant," and smiled to his nods. "Yeah," she continued,
"I've gotten a lot of help in my life to make it...big. Maybe music. Maybe
Hollywood, they'd tell me, and teach me. I'm expected to be big. So, yeah,
it's what I'm aiming for. I expected you to know that I'm the family secret
....But I didn't 'magin' it'd be something like this...or this soon...or with
you."
"And God, you jumped right in! You are brave, girl. I've had years
to prepare. Plus lots more gettin' ready to, I guess....You understand,
don't you, that we're not going to be able to tell anyone what we're doin'?
Maybe ever. So, there'll be no credit. Even if it all happens."
        "We'll know! Who needs credit?"
"Aw, precious. You're amazing! You're an angel among angels. But,
for sure, you can do music and, no doubt, movies. And heck, I'll help all
I can. Not that you need any."
