ÒChooseÓ ending by Zirian McKay

Note from the author-type chick:
I am not the owner of Digimon, but I do own Kyokomon, Makotomon, and most of all; KYOTO! If you steal her I will hunt you down and do evil, cruel, painful, and legal things to your person! Yara is copyrighted by my cousin Callisto, because she is kick ass. This fic is rated PG due to content. If you do not like messy (bloody) situations skip everything between the third and fourth little squiggly lines. This is a sequel to the Digimon fanfic Choose.

ÒI chooseÉÓ Yamato started to say, when a soft beeping broke through the silence. Yara picked up her cell phone.
ÒThis is Yara. Yes, my Lord? Yes, I just finished telling him about the choice,Ó YaraÕs big blue eyes widened and she blushed, ÒIÕm sorry sir, I forgot about that. Yes, IÕll be finished down here in a moment. Yes my Lord, IÕll remember next time.Ó She closed up the chrome cell phone and clipped it to a belt loop on her skirt. She adjusted her skirt and then looked back up at Yamato. Her soft blue eyes glistened and she smiled gently.
ÒIÕm sorry, I had to answer a few quick questions,Ó she cringed internally ÔThat sounded really intelligent Yara. Way to go.Õ ÒSo, what were you going to say?Ó Yamato sighed. It sounded ragged and shattered, he clenched his hands and grit his teeth as he said something heÕd probably regret very soonÉ
ÒI-I want to go back. T. K. needs me.Ó

Joe looked up at the rest of the group and adjusted his glasses, ÒHeÕs alive, just barely, but heÕs alive.Ó He slowly dropped MattÕs wrist and stood up. And thatÕs about the time when everyone else burst into tears. Everyone was so caught up in getting Matt and T. K. off to Gennai that they never noticed the two figures that hung back in the shadows. As soon as T. K. and Matt were loaded onto the back of a Digimon and taken away, the two figures disappeared unnoticed.

As Yamato faded away, almost no one noticed when Yara turned away and began to cry softly. ÔItÕs for the best, I know it. IÕve got to stop, but I canÕt seem to help itÉÕ A figure faded into existence next to the distressed guardian, and wrapped itÕs arm around YaraÕs shoulders.
ÒIt was for the best, and we both know it. ItÕll be alright. The wounds will heal, give it time.Ó The new angel crooned softly. Yara looked up into emerald green eyes.
ÒThanks Kyoto, butÉÓ Yara struggled for words, and Kyoto shrugged and waved her hands.
ÒWords are hard to find, if you canÕt find the right ones, thatÕs alright. I know what youÕre trying to get at. Now, get back to your job before something else happens to him!Ó Kyoto said sternly, but her eyes glittered with merriment, and Yara departed with a smile even though her eyes were still sparkling with unshed tears. KyotoÕs merry gleam faded as she watched the other leave.

ÒOh gÑÓ Yamato broke off with a sharp intake as pain like fire exploded through his body. Even more pain shocked through his right arm, and he almost screamed. He bit back on a string of obscenities and tried desperately not to cry as the agony washed over him like a tsunami.
ÒHeÕs awake! Look you guys! HeÕs awake!Ó
ÒT. K. is here Matt, heÕs in the bed next to yours.Ó It sounded like Kari, but Yamato couldnÕt tell who the first voice was, although he had a feeling that it had been Tai. All of a sudden everyone was trying to ask him a question, tell him something, or burst into tears. He couldnÕt tell who was talking to him, for there were too many people trying to talk to him all at once. Suddenly, his head started to throb and the room began to spin, and a voice broke through the chaos.
ÒLook, he needs some rest. It wonÕt help him if youÕre all trying to talk to him all at once!Ó The soprano voice broke through the noise like a knife, all talking stopped, and suddenly the room stopped spinning and the throbbing in his head stopped. Every head in the room turned at the sound of the voice. Standing in the doorway was the most beautiful girl any of them had ever seen in their entire life that they could think of. She was tall and her straight space-black hair was so long that it came down almost to her knees. Her piercing emerald-green eyes matched the gem imbedded in the pendant that hung around her neck. She wore all black leather except for the dark green turtleneck that she wore. She stood in the doorway of the room and towered over all of the Digi-destined, although the boots she was wearing mightÕve helped, but they werenÕt the platforms that were popular among most of the teenagers in the high schools. Yamato struggled to sit up.
ÒW-w-who are you?Ó his voice was ragged and his thoughts were sluggish. ÔHmmÉdrugs, probably..Õ
ÒHello Yamato. IÕm Kyoto, and this is Makotomon.Ó A strange Digimon scuttled in after the new stranger. It tried to get up on a counter to look at him, he leaned over carefully to see over the side of the bed, and saw two, big blue-green eyes staring back at him woefully. It turned its head back to Kyoto and whimpered.
ÒHelp, peas? I canÕ get up.Ó It wrinkled its little nose at Kyoto, and Yamato laughed. Kyoto smiled and picked it up so that it could stand on the bedside table and look at him. It wriggled free of KyotoÕs arms and flopped onto the table. It scrunched up its face then blinked. It bumbled its way over to the edge of the table and put its forepaws gently on the bed next to his elbow. It snuffled at his arm then stared into his eyes.
ÒHi hi! You got smacked, huh?Ó he nodded and Makotomon reached out and patted his cheek, Òis okay. You get better?Ó
ÒIÕll tryÓ
ÒOkay!Ó it smiled, and Kari giggled.
ÒItÕs so cute!Ó Makotomon turned its head and pouted at her, which only made Kari giggle more.
ÒIÕm a she for your information!Ó then Makotomon turned her back on everyone and pouted.
ÒOh, Mako-chan, give them a break! They didnÕt know.Ó Makotomon turned and glared at Kyoto. Mako-mon snorted at Kyoto and twitched her whiskers. Yamato reached up, and gently scratched MakotomonÕs ears. Makotomon made this quiet rumbling noise and that was when every one of the Digi-destined decided that Makotomon was cute.
ÒI wanna see it!Ó T. K. muttered faintly, and MakotomonÕs ears twitched. Patamon gingerly sat up on the other bed. Patamon raised a paw and nibbled at the bandage. Makotomon crawled to the side of the bed closest to T. KÕs bed.
ÒMakotomon! No! You might jar something!Ó; Kyoto lunged at the Digimon, and thatÕs when Makotomon leapt. Kyoto missed, but Makotomon didnÕt. Makotomon landed gracefully and gently, then gave T. K. and Patamon each a hug.
ÒYou get better, Ôkay?Ó Both T. K. and Patamon nodded. Makotomon turned and smiled, ÒAll better.Ó
~*~^~*~^~*~^~*~^~
Kyoto and Mako-chan stayed the entire time that Yamato and T. K. spent in medical care. Mako-chan kept morale up for both the human portion of the party and the Digimon. Finally MattÕs cast was set, GabumonÕs burns and scrapes had been treated, T. KÕs wounds had healed, and Patamon was down to bruises, but they were ready.
ÒSo, are you all ready?Ó the Digidestined nodded, Òare you sure about that? You donÕt seem to be ready to me!Ó she was grinning as she said this. As they had spent more time with Kyoto, they became more and more aware of her sense of humor, but they couldnÕt understand what she was getting at. The Digi-destined stared at each other in confusion and Sora stepped forward.
ÒWhat is it that weÕre missing? I thought we had everything.Ó Sora looked so worried that Kyoto had to stifle a laugh.
ÒWhat youÕre missing, dear children, is this!Ó a ball of light glowed between KyotoÕs hands, beside her, Makotomon generated a similar energy ball between her massive paws. Makotomon turned to face Kyoto, her energy ball absorbing KyokoÕs energy sphere, then she digivoled into a strange new Digimon that looked something like Angemon.
ÒKyokomon! Energy surge!Ó Kyoto shouted and the giant creature that had once been Makotomon released the giant ball of energy. The Digidestined watched in wonder as the energy sphere engulfed them. The Digimon felt suddenly energized, and all of them felt something calling them in the distance. They turned, suddenly forgetting everything except for the call. They ran toward the calling, and KyotoÕs voice followed them, they looked back but kept running.
ÒFarewell children, and may God hold you in the palm of his hand until we meet again!Ó Kyoto waved as they ran toward their destiny. And for one instant, Yamato thought he saw angelic wings on Kyoto and her companion.
