THE NEMILLENNIUM
Ron and I had such great plans to celebrate our 20th anniversary on New Years Eve. I had reserved a great luxury room at a wonderful gay Bed and breakfast just a half a block from the Gay Village in downtown Toronto. I reserved it for 2 nights Dec 31/99 and Jan01/00.However, early in December, I displaced a disc in my back while moving some furniture which resulted in 2 weeks of  being unable to walk at all, plus another 2 to 3 weeks using a cane and walking only with a great deal of pain and difficulty. Then Ron came down with this awfle flu that was going around just at Chrismas time. Of course, being the generous sharing person he is, he of course, ensured that I also got the flu shortly after him. This after having had the flu shots.       Obviously everything had to be cancelled and we spent New years Eve curled up in our recliners, wrapped in a blanket, in front of the TV for 18 hours watching the New Years coming in around the world. Quite frankly, it was rather nice - but certainly no-where near what we had planned. By the 2nd week in January, we were almost back to normal, and felt we must do something to make up for our disapointment. So, we are leaving for Fort Lauderdale - where it all started, back in 1980. We will be gone for a month  starting on Feb 24, 2000 . I'll make sure I get some pictures and will finish this on our return. We are driving down, so our baby 'Holly' will be going with us once more.

Who's that masked man?
Well we made it, and as you can tell from the above pictures, we still haven't learned how to behave. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
We finally decided to stay in Dania Beach area at an exclusively gay and lesbian accomodation called Liberty Apartment Suites. It is owned and run by the greatest couple, Joe and Jack. It is about 15 to 20 minutes to the gay bars and restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. It is quite reasonable compared with most of the other gay spots in the city. We deffinitely had the best time, by far, of any of our trips to Florida.  We not only saw all our old friends from our previous trips, but made many wonderful new friends from all over America and Canada, who were staying at Liberty Suites the same time we were. They allow well behaved pets, so Holly made herself at home and kept all the other dogs in tow.

There was a lot more to our trip than the Mardi Gras of course, but I see I've run out of room on this page so key on here for  the ------
