Red-Shouldered Hawk Buteo lineatus

Another raptor species to be hit by DDT, their numbers have decreased in recent years. They can be found in the eastern half of the US back as far as the middle of Texas, and in most of California along the coast. Red shouldered hawks will eat small mammals and birds, frogs, snakes and insects.
