| LACY J. DALTON/ THE LAST WILDPLACE/ Song Dog Records For me, Lacy J. Dalton, is still one of the best country-blues artists ever with one of the most instantly recognisable voices in music. Her latest album "The Last Wild Place" is her first move back to her singer/songwriter roots since leaving Nashville. It showcases Lacy's remarkable voice and writing talenty at their finist. Her music is heartfelt, most acoustic-based, Americana, Folk music. Songs like, "The Wondere"; "Standin' Knee Deep", "Slip Away" and "The Alaska Song" are Lacy's favorites. For me, the whole CD is a perfect mix of beautiful acoustic songs. Hopefully she stay's in business now and I hope wedon't have to waith to long for more new stuff from this great Lady in country music. She gets 4stars for this wonderful album. www.lacyjdalton.com |
| THE LONG RYDERS/ THE BEST OF THE LONG RYDERS/ Prima Records Thefirst ever single CD Long Ryders collection futures tracks fromacross their entire career and from every label the band were on. Featuring liner notes from the Rhythm section of Tom Stevens and Greg Sowders as well as Pete Frame's amazing Long Ryders Family Tree and including over a dozen previously unseen photographs of the band in their heyday, this is the one Long Ryders CD to have if you only want one and an exellent introduction to the founding Fathers of Alt-country. Band leader Sid Griffin is an exellent giutar player and singer, works as a journalist, expert on the Byrds history and also everything about Gram Parsons. Sid Griffin runs also a small leabel that reissues material of the Long Ryders and some other stuffof that kind. He now plays with the Coal Porters. |
| RISE/ "UNCERTAIN WONDERS" "TIME AND TIDE"/ Sheheshe Records Till now Rise has released these two great albums. They are a fine alt-folk band from the beautiful Scottish west coast Island of Bute. "Uncertain Wonders" is there debut album. It's Debbie's beautiful voice who touch your heart and soul, together with multi-instrumentalist Gerry Geoghegan, Elaine McCombe on bass, Kris Manvell on drums and percussion. For me the band brings a collage of contemporary rock, folk rock and traditional music on his best. Listen to the beautiful cover of John Lennon's "Imagine", but there original compositions are also exellent. If you like good songs with beautiful music and a great lovely voice, listen to RISE. | PAT ANDERSON/"Wide Open Lonely"/self-released "The things that make us human those are the things I try to amplify and glorify in the songs" are the words of this independent Americana roots-rocker and singer/songwriter PAT ANDERSON. "Wide Open Lonely" is his debut mini relase album. I don't like the comparecy with other musicians because Pat has his own style of songwriting and making good music. This is not regular Nashville stuff but real good country-rock music wich you gonna like very much. Together with his band; Matt Crouse on drums, Chris Frame on guitar, Tim Mark on bass and Gabe Dixonon keyboards Pat plans a full-lenght album release in the late summer of 2005. I can hardly waith for more!!! Pat Anderson is a very talented young artist who deserves highlight attention. (www.pat-anderson.com) |
