| 4 Way Street - "Pretzel Park" (Sanctuary Records) Another supergroup in the same tradition as "Hardpan". It's not surprised to notice that Joseph Parsons is a member of both bands. Other members are Jim Boggia, Ben Arnold and Scott Bricklin. Catchy songs with lots of pop, rock, folk and soul influences. Pretty harmony singing reminds me of bands like "Buffalo Springfield", "Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young" and even "Crowded House". Some songs are possible radiohits like "Counting on you" and "Change gonna come". Recommended ot the fans of The Thorns,Hardpan and The Rembrandts. www.4wayst.com |

| Josh Lederman y los diablos "It's a long and lonely time..."(Nine Mile Records) They call themselves "The kings of Irish-Jewish folk-punk", which is exactly what they are. They combine elements of Celtic, blues, bluegrass, folk and rock and they sound like the americana version of the Pogues. The voice resemblance between Josh Lederman and Shane MacGowan is striking, but also the unbridled energy they use on their drunken stories about broken hearts is typical of the Pogues. Highlights of the cd are "Streets of Philadelphia", "The northern wind" and the instrumental "The Moosejaw Express". I hope Josh and his band will tour the Benelux very soon because live this band must be irresistible. For all the fans of the Pogues. www.coffeestainmusic.com |
