WHERE BROAD ATLANTIC SURGES ROLL by Philip L. Hartling
Published in 1979, it is a history of Beaver Harbour, Port Dufferin, Quoddy, Harrigan Cove, Moose Head, Moser River, Necum Teuch and Ecum Secum.  It provides general information on the communities and specific information on many of the families that settled and lived there from the late 1700s to the 1900s.  Many of the families overlapped into Liscomb Mills, Marie Joseph and further into Guysborough County.  The popular names of Fleet, MacDonald, Turner, Pye, Spears and many more are included.  This book has been out of print for many years and has only 2000 copies in circulation so you will not find it in a book store.  Instead, check the second hand shops or pick a copy up at your local library.  It is worth a read if your family is from those areas listed.
History Along the Old Guysborough Road by M. Noreen E. Gray & Annie A. (Blois) Smith
Published in 1987, it is an historic account on the Old Guysborough in Halifax County.  It provides extensive history on the people who lived along the road. An easy book to read, but hard to put down, it provides interesting stories on the families who lived and died along the road.
A copy of this book can be borrowed from most libraries.
Along the Streets of Guysborough by Christopher A. Cook.
Published in November 2000, it relates the history of the town of Guysborough in Guysborough County.  Each house, shop, church and school is documented.  Information on when the building was constructed, who was the builder, the families who lived in the homes and stories about the families fills the book.
