| Waterford was about an hours spin from Cashel, so we left around half 6. Our destination in Waterford was Dunmore East. I had suggested this spot and no one said no to going there so that was where the stone was to be collected. We stopped for petrol just outside of Waterford because the car was getting thirsty. We all bought loads of sweets, ice cream and drinks here aswell. This kinda pissed me off because I had loads of crisps and bars at home. We sat and ate for a spell and then we headed for the city. We all agreed that the place looked very cool. The street along the river looked well in the evening. We drove through the city looking for Dunmore East. I must pay tribute to Pecker aswell for steering the car while I put on my specs. He did well and kept the journey going safely. We found Dunmore East easy enough. Our first port of call was the beach so we drove up the road and parked the car. We all scrambled out, and we brought the ball. I wasnt going to repeat the stunt I pulled in Galway so I let JP and Colm bring the ball down to the beach. There wasnt much happening here, we had a kick around for a few minutes and we all managed a piss aswell as far as I can remember. Next thing was to decide what to do in order to get the stone. After some suggestions, we decided to climb across rocks to a second beach. This wasnt as easy as it sounds, as most of the rocks were wet, had slippery seaweed on them and it was nearly dark. We got about half way across when the rocks ran out, so we climbed higher and continued our journey. Right before the second beach, we were faced with another dilemma. There was only a small few rocks left to cross, but the tide was coming in and we would have got wet. I wanted to continue, but the rest were reluctant. JP then decided to climb a cliff behind us and see could we reach the beach that way. Once at the top, JP informed us that we could continue that way, so the rest of us climbed up after him. At the top, we were in some old lads garden. He was sitting looking at telly but he could plainly see us. Id say he was shitting himself. Imagine sitting watching telly and then 4 strangers appear over a wall after climbing a cliff, and Pecker dressed all in black. God help the chap. After a quick wave, we ran. We ran very fast to the second beach. Once there, we saw the old lad walking along the road looking down at us. We searched here for our stone and we successfully found it. After the washing of the stone, it was time to head back to the car. We walked along the road, and it was a steep climb too. On the way I remembered a path that used to lead down a hill to the beach. It was just about dark, but I found it all the same. It was well overgrown so I led the way down. There were briars and thorns everywhere. It was like being in Vietnam or something. But it was cool. Once back on the 1st beach, we gathered the ball up and headed for the car. We got out rocks lamp at this point and we had a good look around using it. A powerful instrument it is too. We decided on a spin around the town now. I remembered a good bit of the spot from my younger days. We headed for a memorial to the people that had died at sea from the area. I was looking for my neighbours name, and JP found it. Maurice Mossy Swaine was what it said. Sound man he was too. He was a chef on a fishing boat and he fell overboard and drowned a couple of years back. Poor chap. We sat trying to think of what to do next then for a while. We found a tourist map but it wasnt worth a shit. I tried to find out if there was anything interesting in Kilkenny but my sister never replied. I started to head for Waterford and the lads discussed where to go next. Wexford was decided upon so after a brief trip up to Jurys in Waterford (just to see the view of the city), we headed for Wexford. |

| Here is the beach we collect the stone from. The rocks in the center are the ones we climbed and in the distance is the first beach we were at. | ||||||||||||||
