Laois

Report: JP Delaney

then we drove to laois via portlaois, were again we feasted in the vast banqueting halls of some pub. and then to the rock of dunamaise, where i was once again fascinated by our ancient history. here on this lofty perch once stood great nights and then foreign overlords. as i gazed off into the setting sunset, i imagined the spinning of the world time and time again, and ultimately the sun had set on those mystical heroes, and would one day set on us. but i was not filled with fear, but great joy, and a hope that just as we have strod to improve upon the things that strongbow and his like left us, so too will our children strive to improve on us. and my hope is that, if we have turned the world into a warzone full of the killing of weaker countries and people, that it will not always be so.

as i gazed at the sunset in wonder i smiled. and turned for home.
