"Kangarooing made me feel like a mother for the first time.  The nurse put him on my bare chest and that instant I felt 'this one is mine!'.  I believe that the contact both myself and his daddy had through kangaroo care is what helped Robin feel that he was welcome, loved and had two parents who believed in him." "At 45 days old, 29 weeks AGA, I was able to Kangaroo Kellie for the first time.  She was 2 pounds, 5 ounces at 14 inches long that day.  Our primary nurse had been trying for some time to lewt us do it, but something always came up.  What a joy when the day finally came!!!  Kellie was still ont he ventilator, but nurse Vickie and I were determined to make it work!  It was so beautiful holding her without all the blankets like the week before when I held her for the first time!  She was so warm and cuddly and had a smell all her own... I still remember it!  She was so tiny she fit under my chin and snuggled on top of my breasts.  Vickie and I both enjoyed it!!  A month later, Daddy Kangarooed her and felt an instant bond.  We are very grateful our NICU allowed us the special time with her."
