INauguration of the New Research Center

21/02/03: This day is a milestone to the UST College of Rehab Sciences for it opens its new state of the art research center - The Center for Research on Movement Science. The center's main foci are on movement analysis, exercise physiology, sports nutrition, psychophysiology, and movement therapy. The research center houses the K2B4 (a portable, cordless system that measures a persons VO2max, HR, RR, etc during exercise), and the 3 Dimensional Movement Analysis System (3DMAS) which recreates and records the movement of a person through the use of joint markers and video cameras, translated into computer figure visuals and graphs. The 3DMAS is the first in the country, and with these, UST College of Rehabilitation Sciences once again proves itself to be the country's leading school on Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.

During the opening ceremonies were the Sen. Robert Jaowrski, Sec. Manuel Dayrit, Phil Sports Commission president Eric Buhain, late 70's world bowling angsty, tactless yet honest champ Bong Coo, Alvin Patrimonio and the Purefoods Team, sportscaster Quinito Henson, UST PT alumna Miriam Quiambao and UST Institute of Physical Therapy's main proponent and founder Dr. Tyrone Reyes.

Thera Ex's Chosen Few

12/17/02: Thera ex once again proves itself to be one of the most difficult subjects – with barely ten students getting decent grades for the first shifting. Whereas the rest got what they have expected. Nothing surprising actually. Or am I just speaking for myself? That’s the big question.

What matters now is whether you got yourself hooked on a line of 7, slipped to a sixer, - or dumped six feet under on a 50’s grade. Gone were the days wherein the measure of success (or luck) is merely getting a 75. We’ll just pin our hopes on what Janine has told us – that its possible to rise from the dead - to evolve human from a rotting corpse. But I think the best thing that she has said is that they are badly in need of Interns – and that caps all the doubt on whether we’ll make it or not. We sure will. Go go go!

Ave Gets to be a Goody in a Shopping Spree of a Bad Guy!

12/17/02: You know how it is in the Philippines, as the holidays get nearer, the demands of living rise too – everyone is FORCED to have a happy night on the 25th, and that means having hamon and queso de bola on the table.

Now what happens to those who can’t afford the hamon? Would they settle for the filthy sandwich ham instead of the real thing? Hell no. Would they sleep the night out and just wake up on the26th as if it were any other day? I don’t think so. Of course these guys want also to do some merry making even if they don’t have the means. How would they get the hamon? Simple. Stick a rusty bread knife at Ave’s boy and they would get Ave’s cell phone faster than a syllable uttered by Cudel. Problem solved.

That’s exactly what they did. Ave lost her 3310, and these bad guys would be having some jamon for Christmas. Happy eating! :p

The Holiday and Tests

12/07/02: Christmas is rushing in quick. just around the corner,(...and the tests are just like in front of our faces). Next week would be exams, exams, exams, and all exams. NExt week's gonna be crazy, not only would these young ladies retard to playing dolls, but guys would also be fidling with these pretty little ones. Pedia and CP is such a crazy subject, you have to talk to toys, touch their necks, and cradle them like real, crazy! but i bet everybody would be doing anything crazy in in the name of thera ex and clin ed prax. Come thursday, its gonna be crazier - motor control for thera ex. Sounds like a pretty normal thing to deal with, but not when your patients are professors! what if i get sir joven for a stroke pt? or, what if i get lipardo for TBI...im gonna call mae mae quick for a trade! hehe. as early as now, id be going to baclaran for novenas that i may not get lipardo. If that means doing the 40 feet kneel walking in the aisles of Quiapo church with the oh-kawawa-ka-naman stares of the black Nazarene devotees - i would do it, as long as i get what i want in return, even if it means getting OA a week after, i would trade my knees.

Sheila Gets a Doze of Ovulation Pain!

As many people were telling, lots of things happened during the Sem Break - and that includes what happened to Sheila. She began feeling discomfort over the right upper quadrant of her abdomen (tama ba Sheila?) and she chose not to tell anyone about it for she still has take an one last exam in a subject which i don't know. She sure didn't want to miss any of the remaining exams. Anyways, she applied all the things she knew in PT! She applied ice over the painful area...hoping that the Gate Control Theory would save her from pain - and it actually did! See, PT works - you skeptics you! But as days went by, the pain took a higher level, and according to Sheila, the pain was internal and it radiates to the front and back - so she was now suspecting some organ problem. Halaa! She took some pain meds, and she got the relief she needed, only it was good for 6 hours or so only. So she headed to a doctor for some medical impression on what she might be having. The doctor said  - it was ovulation pain! Great! So she was just given some meds to take...that took the pain off, but there was this point wherein she cant take it anymore. Pain scale hits the ceiling at 10!  Finally, she was rushed to the ER. What turned out to be was that she was not having ovulation cramps, rather it was uterine pain - Sheila's PREGNANT!! hehe, joke, it turned out that there was just some stone clogged up on her right ureter! Through x-ray, with a dye injected to her renal system, it showed a slightly bigger (R) kidney, this of which is  caused by the stone which clogs the way.

Wheew! At least everything's fine now with Sheila. Hope you're feeling ok now.   :P
