Rules and Regulations of the Sixth Grade

Sixth Grade
Handbook

Absences

A note must accompany the student on his/her return to school after an absence. Any missed work the students responsibility to make up. If work is not made up the grade will result in a failure.

Communication

Parents will be kept informed of their childs progress by a weekly folder that is sent home every Friday. Also a weekly evaluation form will be completed and sent home at the parents request. Parents can call the school office or send a note if they need to contact the teachers.

Assignments
All assignments must be written in pencil. A proper heading is to be on all papers. A paper with an incomplete or no heading will result in a one point deduction. All handwriting must be in cursive. If the assignment is not legible, it will be returned to the student to be done over. Lost handouts and worksheets are the students responsibility. Teachers will not provide additional copies.

Homework Policy
Student Homework Responsibility
I expect students to do their best job on their homework. I expect homework to be neat, not sloppy. I expect students to do the work on their own and ask for help only after they have given their best effort. I do not accept the answer, I did not understand it. You may stay for help until you are able to complete the assignment.

*At anytime homework may be collected and counted as a grade.

*** Choose a study buddy to get assignments from and exchange phone numbers.

If Students Do Not Do Their Homework

If students choose not to do their homework, they will receive 10 points off every day from their homework grade. If students still choose not to complete their homework, they also lose certain privileges as well as serve detention. (Three Strikes = detention) Late homework will be required but the reduced grade will stand.

If there is a legitimate reason why a student is not able to finish the homework, the parent must send a note to me on the day the homework is due stating the reason it was not completed. A parent must sign the note. Frivolous reasons, such as forgetting a book, are unacceptable.

Notebooks
Neatness is required.
All worksheets and notes must be dated.

Incomplete Work

If a student has incomplete work, this will result in a 5 point deduction. If a student has incomplete work two out of five days for any teacher, he/she will remain after school on the second day or the day immediately following the second day. If three detentions occur in one quarter, this will result a ten (10) day after school detention.

Test Days

Tests are scheduled so that no more than two tests are given in one day. Vocabulary tests are every Friday.

Progress Reports

During each quarter, a progress report may be sent home. This will not be unexpected since the weekly folder will indicate how your child has been performing.

Dress Code

For a detailed dress code, please refer to the CTK handbook. The following will be emphasized:
