30.-31.5.2009, Broken Shovel

in Paimio, about 30 km east from Turku

The evening is darkening in the forest around you, but luckily you are just reaching your goal for the night the tavern of The Broken Shovel. You step in from to the welcoming light of the inn, and lift your eyebrow in surprise there are more guests than you had expected.  Some of them are locals from the nearby village, but others seem to have travelled to Mistwood from afar You sit down in a corner of the room, order yourself a drink from one of the merry barmaids and wait patiently for the right moment to accomplish your plans

Broken Shovel is a larp set in a medieval-style fantasy world. Combining Finnish and German larp-traditions the game has characters ready written by the game masters and plenty of character interaction, but also passages of action and riddle-solving. NPC-characters bring the story forwards following a loose pre-written manuscript. The game is bilingual (Finnish/English), but also players speaking only either of the languages are welcome all game-information will be available in both languages. There are approximately 17 player characters and 8 NPC:s in game. The game fee for players is 10 and for NPCs 5. The game starts in late afternoon and ends in the night, you may stay overnight at the game site.

What happens when the night grows darker? Are all the legends just fairy tales? And why is the shovel broken?
