| THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS | ||||||||||||

| Twas the day after Christmas, and all through their home, Mother and Father the house they did roam. The wrapping paper was all over the floor And the whole family was suddenly poor. The presents were used and they did not work, So they were tugged outside with a small little smirk. The pie was long gone; they had eaten last night, Their stomachs were full; their pants were too tight. There were dirty dishes all over the place And broken on the floor was a beautiful vase. The stockings were torn and ripped with a gash, And from there they traveled to the brimming trash. The tree had fallen out of its stand, And now the piano wasnt so grand. The Christmas lights each burned a hole, And now the small fire was out of control. Papers were flying around in the air, And the fluff was ripped out of the teddy bear. The snake was gone and out of his cage, And now Father was in a flying rage. Now Bobby! now Sue! now Emily and Mary! On Nancy! on Alex! on Judy and Gary! We must clean up this house! Mother said. But everyone listened as if she were dead. The computer had a virus and it was down; The carpet was white; now it was brown. Pages of books were torn right out And pieces of clothing were strewn about. Buttons were missing off the telephone And the house was considered a danger zone. Cob webs were flying around the room, And there were no bristles in the broom. Screws were loose from the shelf in the hall, And all of the books were about to fall. Pieces of tape were rolled up in bunches, And Nancy was giving Sue a few punches. The eggnog was rotten and smelled very bad; Mom poured a big flagon of it for Dad. Batteries were broken and leaked lots of acid, And no one at all felt very placid. The radio was smashed and didnt dare peep; The car horn was bashed and wouldnt even beep. Everyone was hungry, but there was no food, So they took the dog and had him stewed. The insurance papers were lost in the fire, And Judy was calling Bobby a liar. The clocks were broken and the hands went wild; And springs came out that looked like they smiled. The family couldnt make both ends meet, And by the looks of it, the place would never be neat. Through the house you couldnt find even a path, And if you walked through it, youd soon need a bath. Yes, the house was a mess and the dog was no more, So Mom had to go to the grocery store. They had lots to do and they couldnt be tardy, They had to get ready for the New Years Eve party! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- get it--they had a xmas party and that is Thanks folks, you were great.why the house is messy. |
