The American Family
I can picture the normal American family as "outsiders" must see us.  You know when you think of the traditional 50s families?  You have the mother who always looked nice and whose hair was always tied neatly back.  And the dad who always wore a sweater around the house even in the summer.  And the two boys.  It seemed the children were always boys, but they never fought.

And then you have the families of today...

The mother who works and comes home and then cooks dinner because her idiot son wouldn't do it even though he's been home all day playing some stupid video game and won't lift a finger except take out the trash when the father finally tells him to take out the trash.  And that is the only chore the dad does too.  Tells the son to take out the trash and to start helping his mother even though he doesn't do a damn thing himself.  But he does have to move aside on the couch when the bratty daughter comes in at 7 on the dot and has to watch "Buffy."  He stays there until the middle of the show when the mom hollers out that it's dinner time and he goes in there to get his chicken breast that was leftover from last night.  And he gets mad at her because he wants something new tonight, something like steak.  They get into a fight that the daughter hears from the couch and the son hears from upstairs while he continues his video game saga after the trash is out on the road.  And the cycle never ends, it continues every day.  The only thing that changes is the show the daughter watches and the dinner that is served.  But the family is never drawn together, they are slowly ripped apart while the daughter watches shows and the boy plays games.

This is the way a family should never be, and I don't believe most are.

Thanks, folks, you were great.
