"Crestline- Mrs Alma E. Parr, 77, wife of Calvin Parr of four miles west of Crestline, died at Crestline Memorial Hospital at 2:45 Thursday morning. She had been admitted to the hospital Dec 27 after suffering a stroke. She was born on July 22, 1881, in Vernon Tp., Crawford Co., the daughter of W. A. and Catherine Weaver Bilsing. She was married to Mr Parr on June 15, 1905. He survives with one daughter, Mrs Charles Cooper of Fostoria, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Parr was a member of the First Methodist church here where funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday. The Rev Don Adams, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in Biddle Cemetery near Crestline. Friends may call after 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home." Marion Star, 2 Jan 1959
"Galion- Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery for the remains of Mrs Georgia Shumaker Philp, who died Aug 5 in Panama City, Fla. Services were held there and the body was cremated. Mrs Philip [sic] was born in Galion on the Shumaker homestead on Fairview Ave., which she owned at the time of her death. She was a daughter of William and Samantha Whitman Shumaker. She was graduated from Galion High School in 1904 [sic] and was married to George J. Philp who preceded her in death. Mrs Philp and her husband lived in Pennsylvania and Flint, Mich., and came to Galion in 1926. They moved to Panama City in the 1930s. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Forace [sic] F. Pounder, 70, vice-president of the Galion Lumber company, who died at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home, 339 West Atwood street, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thurs afternoon in the home. Rev. R. E. Porter will officiate and burial... will be made in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Pounder was born in England, Aug 14, 1862, the son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Pounder. He came to the United States at the age of 17 years and had resided in Galion for the past 50 years. He was employed by the Atlanta and Great Western railroad at one time. Survivors are his wife, Mrs Sarah Elizabeth Wilson Pounder; three sons, Edwin, Reuben, and Donald; three brothers, Malcolm and Ted of Elkhart, Ind., and Wilbur of Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs Lily DeFrees, San Francisco, Cal., and Mrs Marie Stevenson, Portland, Ore. George W. Ream, 75, resident of Bucyrus nearly 40 years, died at his home on Plymouth Road, Monday night at 6:30 following a stroke a week ago. He was born in Cranberry Tp. 10-9-1860, the son of Thomas and Mary Smith Ream. He married Sophia Kurtz 10-15-1891. She died 20 years ago. He is survived by one son, Irvin Ream of Crestline, two sisters, Mrs. Susan Kurtz of Bucyrus and Mrs. Catherine Orewiler of Sulphur Springs, and one grandchild, Francis Ream. He was a member of the St. John's Reformed Church and was formerly employed by Roehr Mill and also at the W.A. Riddell Co. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery.
"Ervin E. Ream, 54, a life-long Bucyrus resident, died at 10 am Sat in City hosp here following a five day illness. The deceased was bron [sic] Nov 1, 1896 in Bucyrus, the son of George and Sophia Kurtz. He was marr. Apri 15, 1920 to Mary Topper, who survives, together with a son, Francis, at home. A sister is dead. Mr Ream was employed for many years as a molder at the Shunk Mfg. Co. here. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church..... Burial will be in the church cem...." He was district supervisor for the Texaco Oil Co. for a number of years but had been a salesman of auto parts for the last 10 years. He served with the airforce during WW1. "Death. Bucyrus, Feb 28-- Mrs. Chester Ricker, 39, died at her home, six miles east of Bucyrus on the Olentangy-rd., Sunday night at 8:30 o'clock, after giving birth to twin daughters, last Tuesday. The daughters were named Margaret and Marjorie. They survive along with the husband and six other children, Mary, William, James, George, Dorothy and Junior. Four sisters, Mrs. Carl Miller, Bucyrus; Mrs. Carl App, east of Bucyrus; Mrs. James Fout, Dayton, and Mrs. Sidney Christman, North Robinson, and one brother, E. E. Smith, east of Bucyrus, also survive. Mrs. Ricker, before her marriage, was Eva C. Smith, the daughter of William and Mary (Stailey) Smith. She was born in Whetstone township October 10, 1888, and was married to Chester Ricker 19 years ago. Funeral services will be held from the home Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with Rev. "Chester W. Ricker Sr, 73, of 524 S. Boston St., died at 5:04 pm Monday in Galion Comm Hosp where he had been seriously ill since Saturday. He was born June 6, 1888 in Bucyrus to William and Alemia Edler Ricker. He was married to Eva Christine Smith who died Feb 1928. He then married Maude Worden Roelle on May 19, 1944 in Galion. She survives. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and was employed as a machinist at the National Grave Vault Co. until his retirement. Surviving in addition to his widow are 4 sons and one daughter, William C. Ricker of Bucyrus, James E Ricker of Crestline, Chester J. Ricker of Galion and George Ricker of Orient and Mrs Ray Allen of W. Liberty. 13 grandchildren also survive. Also surviving are 9 step-children... and two sisters... Survivors: wife, Gene, step-mother, Mrs. Maude Ricker of Galion; daughters Miss Fay Lee an Miss Scherry Lynn, both at home, son Bill Eugene, at home, brothers, James of Ontario, Chester of Galion, and George; and sister, Mrs Ray Allen of West Liberty. He was united in marriage Sep 9, 1934 with the former Laura Hopkins, who survives with a daughter, Margaret Schell, also of Bucyrus. There are 10 surviving grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren Three sisters also survive. They are Mrs David Fahl, Bucyrus, Mrs Edwin Phillips and Mrs Mary Harrison, both of Galion. Mr Riddlebaugh spent most of his life in this area retiring as a conductor of the NY Central RR. He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Ch. and of the K&P Lodge. Funeral services... Rev M. P. While living in Bucyrus, she was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church. She made her home with her son for the past seven years.
