Mr. Eavn T. Worley, prominent farmer and owner of considerable property in Madison County died at his home in Marshall about five o'clock last Saturday afternoon July 24, 1937, having been ill since Tuesday before. Mr. Worley would have been 79 had he lived until the 29th of next Oct. The early part of his life was spent in the Paw Paw section of Madison Cunty, He and Mrs. Worley [Valure (Lure) Boyd Worley] moved to Marshall about 1912. After Moving to Marshall he aquired considerable property in the Marshall section and was a stockholder in and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of French Broad. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| He was an honorary deacon in the Marshall Baptist Church, after moving his membership from Shoal Hill Church. E. T. lost an arm in a sawmill accident earlier in his life. E.T. was buried at Kirk Payne Cemetery on Paw Paw. A life-long friend, Rev. J.A. Martin paid tribute to the long and honorable life of Mr. Worley saying "That he was a man of his word. When Mr. Worley made a statement, it could be depended upon." His favorite hym was: "God Be With You Till WE Meet Again". |
