Henry Worley
In 1863, at age 27, Henry was described as 5'6"tall, dark complexion with black hair and eyes. In the Civil War Henry is listed in three different units for Madison County: Confederates- 64th NC Infantry Co.
Union: 2nd N.C.Mounted Infantry Co.
Union: 3rd Regiment N.C. Volunteer Mounted Infantry Co. This data was obtained from three different sources: Moore's Roster of Confederates published in 1901, 1890 Veteran Census, and his gravestone lists the 3rd Mounted.
  Henry is recorded as enlisting in the Confederate Army on March 1,1863 for a period of about three months. It later shows he deserted from the CSA on June 2,1863. He then joined the Union Army ,September 12, 1864 at Knoxville,Tn.  He rode a horse from Marshall to Knoxville to enlist. He was honorably discharged from Company C, 3rd Regiment at Knoxville, Tn. on August 8, 1865 as a private.  He later filed a disability claim which was denied on January 2, 1884 (Claim # 503109).

Henry was Postmaster for Little Pine Creek betwen 1883 and 1893 in Madison County, N.C.
Rev. Jesse Whitt married  Henry and Savilla Emmaline Freeman April 15, 1856 on her twentieth birthday in Madison County.
